At 08h29 CDF Control room received an alarm signal from a client on Market street in Bellville. Charlie 2 was deployed and arrived at the scene at 08h33. Charlie 2 was met by the client at the premises, and a perimeter search indicated a positive break-in. No suspects were found on the property. Together with SAPS, further investigation and searches were conducted at the informal- settlement in the nearby area. 2 Bravo males and 4 Charlie males were said to have been drinking whiskey whilst sitting outside the shacks. When the suspects spotted CDF and SAPS, they immediately started running in different directions, and some jumped from the bridge into the water. SAPS gave chase, following 3 Suspects, whilst Charlie 2 apprehended the three remaining suspects. 1 Bravo male and 2 Charlie males were arrested on suspicion of burglary. Shacks were searched, and the stolen items, including cash, alcohol and sensor light, were found hidden under blankets. Suspects have been charged and are currently behind bars.
