Today, some of our Nashua Durban family spent our 67 minutes for Mandela Outreach at Zibambeleni Old Age Home in KwaDabeka, Pinetown, where we had the privilege of sharing time with some of their truly incredible residents.
This year, we chose to focus our outreach on the elderly - a community that is often forgotten, yet has so much wisdom, warmth and life to share.
Our morning was filled with laughter, singing, dancing, music and plenty of smiles. We soon realised that the greatest gift we could give was our time, our attention and our hearts.
What started as an opportunity to brighten someone else's day became a deeply rewarding experience for all of us. We left feeling inspired, grateful and reminded of the incredible impact that simple acts of kindness can have.
As Nelson Mandela so beautifully said:
"A society that does not value its older people denies its roots and endangers its future. Let us strive to enhance their capacity to support themselves for as long as possible and, when they cannot do so anymore, to care for them."
A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Zibambeleni Old Age Home for welcoming us so warmly and to every member of our Nashua Durban team who gave their time to make today so special.
Here's to carrying the spirit of Mandela Day beyond just one day each year. 💙
