Why use think pink aerolite? Is think pink aerolite non-combustible? What are the fire properties? Does it contain asbestos? Thermal and acoustic insulation

Almost seventy percent of the time consumers choose aerolite insulation over cellulose fiber as it is an excellent and economical insulator. Even though the two insulating materials have very similar R-values, the debate raises “cellulose vs aerolite” as to which is more beneficial to the health of consumers and the health of the building itself. Knowing the qualities of the materials can help you decide which is a better choice for your home, and also does not burden your pockets.

What chemicals is cellulose fiber treated with?
Cellulose fiber can be used as insulation in wall and roof cavities. It is a natural fiber obtained from plants and used in the production of paper. It is obtained from used recycled newspapers. The newspapers are crushed and treated with organic and inorganic salts. Some of the additional components include binders, fire retardants, insecticides, etc. In order to make it suitable for insulation it is treated with a number of chemicals like ammonium sulphate, sulphuric acid, borax, boric acid, lime, ammonium phosphate, aluminium hydrate, zinc chloride and many others.

Polyester insulation is made from recycled PET bottles. Plastic drink bottles are also recycled to reduce landfill. These bottles are heat bonded and there are no use of chemicals or any added fire retardants like boric acid (used in cellulose fiber insulation) that could be harmful to you. The fire retardant properties of polyester insulation are NON toxic and completely natural. In fact it’s pretty much the same polyester used in duvets and pillows.

You never know when you might need to return to the inside of your roof after having ceiling insulation installed. The geyser may burst, or maybe you need to change some of the wires, whatever the reason, it’s a comfort to know there is a safe ceiling insulation installed without toxic fumes (boric acid).
