Standing Together This Women’s Month 💜

This Women’s Month, the Pinelands Neighbourhood Watch is once again running their Annual Women’s Month Appeal, supporting women in our community who need a helping hand.

The Zonewatch team was proud to make a donation towards this important initiative. As a security company rooted in the community, we believe that keeping people safe goes beyond responding to incidents — it also means standing together, supporting one another, and giving back where we can.

🚨 COPPER THEFT SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN BELLVILLE 🚨

In the early hours of Saturday Morning, Zonewatch Armed Response officers responded to an alarm activation at Brito’s Bellville Taxi Rank following the detection of two suspects in the rear area of the premises.

ARO W. Bauer and ARO F. Brown were dispatched. The suspects had been detected on CCTV, with the cameras monitored remotely.

With the assistance of the keyholder, officers conducted a thorough search of the premises and discovered three suspects hiding inside the protective cage surrounding the generators. The suspects had damaged the mesh roofing to gain access and had broken copper pipes connected to the generators.

Bellville SAPS was immediately notified, and all three suspects were taken into custody and transported to Bellville SAPS for processing. The client also laid a charge.

A great example of how effective CCTV monitoring, rapid armed response and cooperation with SAPS can make a difference in protecting our communities and preventing further losses. 👮‍♂️🚨

Every day, our team at Zonewatch works across the communities we serve. Most days, the incidents we attend to are not the major events that make headlines or social media posts, but rather the small acts of service that help keep our neighbourhoods safe.

This morning in Thornton, we received the following message:

"Hi my name is Thembo.I stay in Thornon...Thank you for saving me this morning I could have been robbed on forest drive extension near UCK. Two ladies and one guy most likely armed with a knife tried to rob me but luckily they saw security stopping next to me and exiting his car and they fled. I just want to say thank you to you Imeraan from Zone watch security."

Moments like these often go unnoticed because they are not always highlighted, but they are an important part of what our Armed Response Officers do every single day. We are incredibly grateful for the kind words and support from the communities we serve.

🚨 Zonewatch Armed Response Officer Stops Fire in Thornton 🚨

Earlier last week, Armed Response Officer Imran Kesonk sprang into action extinguishing a fire at a residence in Thornton.

Thanks to his quick thinking and decisive response, Imran was able to prevent what could have become a devastating incident. By immediately making use of two fire extinguishers on the home's chimney, he successfully stopped the fire before it could spread further.

“Thank you very much for your assistance with the fire at our house earlier this evening. Your fast response and awareness to use two fire extinguishers on the chimney where absolutely critical responses that prevented disaster. Our family felt much safer and relieved once you had gone up the roof.”

👏 We are incredibly proud of Imran for going above and beyond to keep our community safe. His vigilance, professionalism, and swift actions are a testament to the dedication of all our Armed Response Officers.

🕊️ Honouring Chris Blatherwick

Today, the Pinelands CID Public Safety team observed a moment of silence in honour of Chris Blatherwick, who recently passed away.

It was a brief but meaningful opportunity for the team to pay their respects and reflect on Chris’s remarkable contribution to the safety and security of the Pinelands community.

Chris was part of the Pinelands CID family from its inception and played an integral role in the development of our public safety operations. He managed the Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) camera system, oversaw the Public Safety Officers and Control Room, and was actively involved in numerous crime prevention initiatives that helped protect our community.

In addition to his work with Pinelands CID, Chris was a dedicated member of the Community Police Forum, working alongside law enforcement, community organisations, and residents to make Pinelands a safer place for everyone.

His professionalism, leadership, and unwavering commitment to public safety have left a lasting legacy that will not be forgotten.

Pinelands CID extends its heartfelt condolences to Chris’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

Honouring Chris Blatherwick

Last Friday, for the first time in a very long time, the busy offices and operations of Zonewatch Security fell silent.

Across every area we serve, our operational teams stood down for a moment of silence to honour the life of our Operations Director, Chris Blatherwick. At Head Office, our team gathered together to reflect, share a few words, and listen to Chris' final call over the radio, a deeply moving moment that reminded us of the incredible impact he had on all of us.

Chris was a special kind of leader. He was the quiet calm in every storm, leading with humility, wisdom, and immense dedication. His steady presence, guidance, and genuine care for both our team and our clients helped shape the values that define Zonewatch today.

While his absence is felt every day, his legacy will continue to guide us. We remain committed to upholding the high standards, professionalism, and integrity that Chris expected of us and inspired in all of us.

Chris, you are deeply missed, We will never forget you.

🚨 Copper Theft Suspect Apprehended at Pragma Bellville Business Park 🚨

Early this morning, Zonewatch officers responded swiftly to a reported copper theft incident at Pragma Bellville Business Park.

FRU-339 Supervisor Jaco Boonzaaier and FRU-341 ARO Rafiek Adams arrived on scene within minutes after being dispatched. Upon inspection, it was discovered that suspects had gained access to the premises and stolen copper material estimated at approximately R20 000.

During the response, officers located and apprehended the suspect on scene. The suspect attempted to stab Supervisor Jaco Boonzaaier during the arrest, forcing him to safely detain the individual. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

The area was secured, management and authorities were notified, and CCTV footage was requested for further investigation.

Excellent teamwork and rapid response, A Massive Thank you to Rafiek Adams and Jaco Boonzaaier who ensured the suspect was successfully detained and the scene secured. Our Officers put their lives on the line to ensure our communities safety
