Following reports of copper theft on Sunday, 11 October, SecuWatch Protection launched a focused investigation that led to a suspect being arrested on Wednesday, 14 October.

The arrest followed the review of CCTV footage, incident details and available evidence, helping security personnel establish what happened, identify the suspect and support the investigation.

📹 CCTV footage helped provide crucial information, including movements, timelines and activity connected to the reported theft.

📝 Detailed incident reports also played an important role by recording the dates, times, locations and circumstances surrounding the incidents.

This case demonstrates how quickly effective security action can follow a crime report when information is captured accurately and investigated thoroughly.

SECUWATCH PROTECTION — EYES OPEN, ALWAYS READY!

On 10 October 2026, a routine operation at the Harry Goeman Centre in Bergvliet turned into a decisive intervention when a sharp-eyed SecuWatch Protection response officer spotted a vehicle flagged in connection with a Theft from Motor Vehicle case registered at Wynberg SAPS on 3 October 2026! 🚗🚨

⚡ 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗨𝗡𝗙𝗢𝗟𝗗𝗦!

Recognising the vehicle, our response officer immediately contacted CVIC and called for backup. But before assistance could arrive, the vehicle attempted to make its exit!

🚔 There was no time to waste! Our officer tactically intercepted the vehicle and brought it to a stop. The driver was instructed to exit the vehicle and complied.

👮 A 38-year-old male was detained at the scene as the operation intensified.

🤝 Backup soon arrived, with Premier Security Par 5 and Par 8 joining SecuWatch Protection on the ground.

Under the direction of the investigating officer, the teams safely escorted the suspect and vehicle to Wynberg SAPS.

⚖️ THE OUTCOME?
🔹 Suspect detained at the scene.
🔹 Suspect charged with Theft from Motor Vehicle.
🔹 Vehicle seized by SAPS for further investigation.

🚨 𝙃𝙀 𝙃𝘼𝘿 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙁𝙐𝙀𝙇. 𝙒𝙀 𝙃𝘼𝘿 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙋𝙇𝘼𝙏𝙀. 🚨

At around 13:10, a vehicle linked to an alleged fuel theft at BP Victory Road, Plumstead, triggered the CVIC LPR network in Constantia.

CVIC Control put out the call for assistance.

𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚 𝐒𝐑𝐓 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐀𝐃𝐓 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

The vehicle was picked up travelling along Constantia Main Road, with its movements being relayed between the responding units.

Then it passed the SecuWatch unit.

Awkward. 👀

Our response vehicle safely manoeuvred back onto the route and re-established visual contact.

With permission from the investigating officer, the vehicle was brought to a stop.

And then came the part nobody was expecting...

During a further search of the vehicle, an item believed to be an unlicensed fi***rm, together with four rounds of am******on, was allegedly found concealed underneath the driver's seat.

Further investigation established that the fi***rm belonged to the suspect's father.

The suspect was subsequently charged with theft of fuel, possession of an unlicensed fi***rm and possession of am******on.

So, what started as an alleged fuel theft at BP Victory Road ended with an LPR alert, multiple response units, a vehicle stop, a detention and an alleged fi***rm recovery.

Not exactly the getaway plan they had in mind. 😏

This is what coordinated crime prevention looks like when technology, information and boots on the ground work together.

CVIC sees it.

The network closes in.

Because apparently, some people still haven't realised...

🚨 𝙁𝙍𝙊𝙈 𝙋𝙇𝙐𝙈𝙎𝙏𝙀𝘼𝘿 𝙏𝙊 𝙎𝙀𝘼𝙒𝙄𝙉𝘿𝙎: 𝙁𝙊𝙐𝙍 𝘼𝙍𝙍𝙀𝙎𝙏𝙀𝘿 🚔

What started with a stolen motorcycle in Plumstead on Monday morning ended with four arrests in Seawinds on Tuesday.

The Plumstead Neighbourhood Watch camera network quickly identified a suspect bakkie leaving the area with the motorcycle loaded on the back. A case was opened with SAPS and the vehicle was placed on the LPR network.

Then, on Tuesday at approximately 16:58, information reached SecuWatch that the flagged bakkie had been spotted entering Uitsig, Marina da Gama.

Our response vehicle was only minutes away and immediately moved into the area.

👀 SecuWatch located the vehicle, established visual contact and had an unmarked Kirstenhof Crime Watch patroller maintain observation.

When the bakkie became mobile, our response team tracked the vehicle as it travelled from Marina da Gama into Seawinds, while coordinating with SAPS.

SecuWatch maintained eyes on the vehicle until SAPS intercepted it in Sugarbird Crescent, Seawinds.

🚔 Four occupants were arrested by Muizenberg SAPS, and the bakkie was taken to the station for further investigation.

The vehicle is linked to three theft-related cases, including theft of a motorcycle and motor vehicles.

⚠️ The stolen motorcycle was unfortunately not recovered.

But the suspect vehicle was identified, located, monitored and tracked, resulting in four arrests.

🚨 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 𝗨𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗗𝗿𝘂𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 🚨

At approximately 20:15 on 15 June 2026, while conducting patrols in Southfield, SecuWatch, together with Diep River SAPS, encountered a vehicle known for its alleged involvement in the local drug trade.

The driver attempted to leave in a hurry when approached. Unfortunately for him, his evening plans changed rather quickly.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of tik and Mandrax, and further investigation led members to his residence. Working alongside Steenberg SAPS CPU and Diep River SAPS CPU, a search was conducted which uncovered:
💊 92 packets of tik
💊 110 whole Mandrax tablets
💊 20 half Mandrax tablets
💊 A large quantity of uncut crystal methamphetamine
💰 Cash suspected to be proceeds of drug dealing

𝗦𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 "𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹" 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘀.

To the dealers who still think Southfield, Plumstead, and the surrounding areas are easy hunting grounds: please continue making poor decisions. It keeps us employed and keeps the handcuffs busy.

🚨 “𝑨𝑵𝑶𝑻𝑯𝑬𝑹 ‘𝑸𝑼𝑰𝑪𝑲 𝑬𝑺𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑬’ 𝑻𝑯𝑨𝑻 𝑬𝑵𝑫𝑬𝑫 𝑬𝑿𝑨𝑪𝑻𝑳𝒀 𝑯𝑶𝑾 𝒀𝑶𝑼’𝑫 𝑬𝑿𝑷𝑬𝑪𝑻…” 🚨

At approximately 23:00 on 19 May 2026, while conducting patrols in Malgas Street, Southfield, alongside SAPS, SecuWatch members observed a Toyota Corolla whose occupants suddenly became very interested in leaving the area the moment SecuWatch and SAPS vehicles were spotted.

Apparently, somebody thought speeding up, skipping a stop street, and attempting to flee was going to end well. Bold move. Wrong area.

Due to the suspicious behaviour and traffic offence committed, a tactical pursuit was initiated. The vehicle was successfully intercepted by SAPS with the assistance of SecuWatch on Flintdale Road, where the occupants were stopped by members on scene.

During a lawful search of the vehicle, approximately 17 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐢𝐤 (18 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬) 𝐚𝐧𝐝 6 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐱 𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝, concealed inside red condoms. Because apparently that was the hiding plan of the evening. 🙃

It’s always fascinating how criminals suddenly become Formula 1 drivers the moment they see patrol vehicles, only to act surprised when the trip ends in flashing lights and handcuffs.

At approximately 15:05, Secuwatch received information that a familiar face, previously arrested by Secuwatch for petrol theft, had allegedly decided to revisit old habits.

This time, approximately R800 worth of petrol was reportedly stolen from Engen Meadowridge. Unfortunately for him, technology and teamwork were already clocking in for duty 👀

At approximately 16:25, the Plumstead Neighbourhood Watch ANPR cameras gave us a nice little heads-up after the suspect vehicle entered the Plumstead area. SAPS and surrounding SSPs were immediately informed, and Secuwatch members began searching.

At approximately 16:40, the vehicle was located in Churchill Road. While keeping a close eye on the vehicle, role players coordinated a strategic plan because… well… running only works if nobody is watching 😏

At approximately 16:44, the vehicle was successfully boxed in by Secuwatch and SRU Security. Within minutes, VD36 arrived on scene and the suspect was loaded up for an unexpected change of scenery 🚔

The suspect and vehicle were positively identified and escorted to Diep River SAPS, where charges relating to the theft of petrol followed.
