A R9,000 water bill is never a nice surprise 😳💧

We were called out to Hermanus after our client had been hit with unusually high water bills for the past couple of months.

Using acoustic leak detection, we managed to pinpoint the leak — and found a pretty interesting previous “repair” 👀

A 15mm copper pipe had simply been pushed inside a 22mm Unitwist pipe and sealed with some sort of hard-set epoxy… no proper brass fitting in sight. Unsurprisingly, it eventually failed.

Leak found ✅
Properly repaired ✅
Very relieved client ✅

Always satisfying finding the source of a hidden leak and getting it sorted — and we definitely didn’t complain about the drive out to Hermanus either! 👨‍🔧🌊

💧 NO DISHWASHER CONNECTION? NO PROBLEM. 🔧

Our client wanted to install a dishwasher on the opposite side of the kitchen - but there was no water supply or waste point anywhere near it.

So, we made a plan. 👊

Our team carefully chased a neat route through the kitchen floor, extended the water supply and waste line across to the new appliance position, connected everything up and tested it - leaving the floor neat and ready for the tiler to reinstate.

And then came the part people don’t always see…

Angle grinding and chasing inside a finished kitchen creates a LOT of dust. Rather than simply packing up once the plumbing was finished, the team spent a good amount of time wiping down the cupboards, countertops, appliances and surrounding areas to leave the kitchen as clean and tidy as possible. 🧹✨

The result?

✅ New water supply
✅ New waste connection
✅ Dishwasher installed and functioning
✅ Floor left ready for the tiler
✅ Kitchen cleaned down afterwards
✅ One very happy client using his new appliance that same day

Some days, running a plumbing business means the alarm goes off at 4AM… not to get to site, but to catch up on everything that happens behind the scenes. 😅☕️

Quotes, invoices, bookings, scheduling teams, reports, emails, WhatsApps, follow-ups… the list goes on!

🚧 Big project underway in St. James!

We’re tackling a serious drainage upgrade, including the replacement of over 30 metres of sewer piping.

We’ll also be installing a Fin Drain — essentially a heavy-duty French drain system — along the foundation of the building to help collect and divert groundwater and mountain runoff away from the property.

Plenty of digging, plenty of pipework, and a big transformation ahead. 💪🔧

Sometimes the standard solution just won’t work.

As you can see here, we’ve fabricated a completely custom steel bracket to support our 150L slimline Tecron copper geyser.

We consider these geysers to be one of the best options on the market when it comes to value for money and longevity. The challenge, however, is that the manufacturer specifies that they cannot simply be wall-mounted.

Normally there are conventional L-shaped brackets available, but this installation is a little different.

The bed in this flat needs to fold up into the wall cavity below the geyser, which meant we had to keep the entire installation as slim and unobtrusive as possible.

So, a standard bracket wasn't going to cut it. 🙃

I spent the weekend fabricating, prepping and painting this custom steel frame specifically for the installation, and today we finally got it mounted and into position. 👌

A bit of extra work behind the scenes, but it's these custom solutions that allow us to make challenging installations work properly without compromising the design of the space.

🏗️ Renovation Update | Pinelands

Here's a quick walkthrough of the house now that it's been completely stripped back. The roof is off, the scaffolding is up, and you can really appreciate the scale of the transformation that's about to take place.

It's a strange feeling walking through a home with no roof overhead - completely exposed to the elements - but it's all part of the process.

This beautiful 92-year-old home is about to begin its next chapter, blending its original character with a modern new design. We're proud to be part of the journey, helping breathe new life into a piece of history.

🚧 Pinelands Renovation Update! 💪

The guys have definitely been earning their keep this week! We've been flexing our muscles, breaking through some seriously thick concrete to get the correct falls on our new sewer line installation. It's tough work, but getting the foundations right is what makes the finished product last.

With the roof now off, it's mainly just our plumbing team and the scaffolding crew on site, working together to keep this renovation moving forward.

Super proud of the team and the effort they're putting in every day. Big transformations always start with the hard work that no one sees. 👏
