Cool-Tranz and Cool Bus Systems

Today started with an MCV driver picking me up in Giza, followed by a 2 hour drive to MCV’s manufacturing sites, and WOW! ‼️

I honestly can’t explain the experience. 🤯

Mr. Namir, the Production Manager, took me through the entire process, from concept to completion.

Can you imagine producing approximately 20 buses a day, each built according to specific customer requirements, bus designs, chassis specifications, and even complete with the customer’s logos?

I stopped counting the buses across all the assembly lines and outside when I reached 120, and yes, there were plenty more! 🚌🚌🚌

Walking through the parts manufacturing sections, the assembly lines, the bus air conditioning section 😎, MCV’s EV section, and Volvo’s EV assembly section was an experience I won’t forget.

Seeing the scale, precision, engineering, and teamwork behind every bus gives you a completely different appreciation for what goes into building these vehicles.

Where It All Began.

Some photographs are more than just photographs. They hold memories, people, sacrifices, dreams, and the beginning of a story that would shape number of family’s future.

Four field service technicians, standing together at the beginning of a journey. On the right, infront of his Isuzu, is my father, Desmond Branford.

Dad started his journey in transport refrigeration in 1990. In 1992, he was relocated to Nelspruit to open Transfrig Nelspruit, and in 1999 he moved again, this time to Transfrig Cape Town.

Little did we know at the time where that journey would lead. Transfrig eventually closed its own branches and then came August 2001.

That was the year Cool-Tranz was born.

What followed were years of long nights, early mornings, hard work, uncertainty, sacrifice and determination. There were no shortcuts. Just a man who believed in what he was doing and was willing to put everything into building something of his own, and sustainable.

Looking back now, this photograph means so much more to me and the team.

I don't just see four technicians...

I see my father before Cool-Tranz existed. I see the experience he was gaining, the roads he travelled, the people he met, and the foundations he was unknowingly laying for what would come next.

A journey that started with one man and a lot of hard work, and today, looking at this old photograph, I feel incredibly proud to call him my father and have been by his side since 2002.

🎉 It’s official THE day — we’re celebrating 25 years of keeping it cool! ❄️

As we celebrate this incredible milestone, we want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to all our clients for your continued support, trust and belief in us. We are truly blessed to have grown alongside you over the past 25 years.

A special thank you also goes out to all our business partners. Your support and collaboration have been an important part of our journey.

Since 2001, we have serviced, repaired and installed countless transport refrigeration and bus air-conditioning systems across many different makes and models.

We remember when it all began — the Carrier’s Mistral and Thunderbird, Thermo King’s MD I and SDZ, Transfrig’s TF175 and TF330, a few Kingtec and Zanotti - Daikin units, and even that one Petter unit! 😄

How amazing it is to look back and see just how far these manufacturers and their technology have evolved into the latest-generation systems we work with today.

On the bus air conditioning side, we installed predominantly equipment, while also servicing and repairing systems from , , , and .

Through all these years, one thing has remained constant:

This is the LAST MT460i we had in stock and installed yesterday....even the sky was sad and grey. MT460i was disconnected in the beginning of the year.

The client wanted the same model. Why?
His previous MT460i, 2019 model had almost 17 000 diesel hours on the clock, excluding electric hours. Original Engine and Compressor still running.
