Before the plants can tell their story, a garden needs a quiet structure to hold them.

We often think of landscapes as purely living, breathing spaces, but the true longevity of a design lies in its hardscaping…the silent, architectural foundation that gives the wild elements their stage.

More than just pathways or walls, thoughtful hardscaping is what defines how you experience a garden. It dictates the rhythm of your steps, creates distinct outdoor "rooms," and anchors the natural topography of the land.

Loving how this soft planted entrance welcomes you to the front door.
Here we used large step units planted with Crassula Fragilis and the lovely red leaved Crassula Streyi.

Myrica and Phylica shrubs create movement and texture with pops of colour from the Leucodendron yellow devil and cascading rhus.

There is a beautiful, quiet conversation that happens when architecture and nature entirely align.

Defined by its strong structural form, this garden was designed to seamlessly integrate the home into the lines of the surrounding landscape.

Low, ribbon-like hedges anchor the modern architecture, running alongside the front slope before gradually dissolving into the wild, natural vegetation beyond.
These flowing green bands act as a living threshold, softening the hard edges of construction and effortlessly blurring the boundary between the built environment and the earth.

On-site with the team, installing a Mediterranean-inspired garden.

False olives (Buddleja saligna) frame the front façade, while a rill water feature leads into a lily pond aligned with the front door stone archway. Large natural stepping stones in gravel paths, granite cobbles, large boulders, and earthy aged ceramic planters forms the backbone of the design.

The intention is for the home’s architectural materiality to extend directly into the landscape, creating a cohesive design language.
