Another fun history lesson. Did you know?

People have been making bricks for 9000 years in the following ways below.

1. Mud (Unfired Clay): Early bricks made from mud, sun-dried, and used in ancient civilizations for basic structures.

2. Fired Clay (Baked Brick): Clay shaped into bricks and baked in kilns, creating strong, durable bricks used in ancient and modern buildings.

3. Lime and Sand: A mixture of lime and sand used in some medieval regions, lighter than fired clay but less durable.

4. Adobe: Sun-dried bricks made from clay, straw, and water, commonly used in warm climates for insulation.

5. Stone: Large, carved stones used as bricks, valued for their strength and durability in ancient monumental construction.

6. Concrete (Cement Blocks): Modern bricks made from cement, sand, and aggregates, offering strength and water resistance.

7. Fly Ash: Bricks made from fly ash (coal combustion byproduct), providing an eco-friendly alternative with strength and lightweight properties.

8. Recycled Materials: Bricks made from recycled materials like glass or plastics, designed to be sustainable and reduce environmental impact.

Here is an interesting fact about bricks.

Great Wall of China was partially constructed with bricks during the Ming Dynasty, and some of these bricks were made using materials like sticky rice mixed with lime for extra strength!

You would be delighted to know we don’t make our bricks with sticky rice. 😂😜 We use good old high quality clay.
