🚨 Good news for borehole owners!
Following OUTA's request for legal clarity, the Department of Water and Sanitation has officially confirmed that most households using boreholes for normal domestic purposes do NOT need to register.
The Department also confirms:
✅ No registration for reasonable household use
✅ No registration for small, non-commercial gardens
✅Watering livestock within the land’s natural grazing capacity
✅ No penalties for Schedule 1 domestic users
✅ The 90-day registration period (Deadline 23 July 2026) does not apply to exempt household users
