ASSISTANT / TECHNICAL APPRENTICE WANTED
Bell City Locksmith & Auto Electronics – Bellville
We are looking for a motivated, reliable and technically minded person to work directly alongside me as an assistant, while being trained in the specialised field of automotive electronics, diagnostics and locksmithing.
This is a learn-while-you-work opportunity. You will assist me with my day-to-day work while gaining practical experience and developing valuable technical skills.
What the role involves:
• Automotive diagnostics and advanced fault finding
• Automotive electronics and ECU systems
• Vehicle key programming and immobiliser systems
• Automotive locksmithing
• Electrical and electronic troubleshooting
• Removing and refitting electronic components and vehicle modules
• Stripping and reassembling vehicle components when required
• Assisting with ECU and electronic component repairs
• Researching and finding solutions to difficult vehicle problems
• Workshop and customer-related tasks
• General assistance with the daily running of the business
As your skills develop, you will gradually become more involved in the technical work and learn how to diagnose and solve problems yourself.
This is not a mechanic position. The focus is on automotive electronics, diagnostics, electrical fault finding, programming and locksmithing. However, you must be comfortable working with your hands, using basic tools, and removing and correctly refitting vehicle components.
Who we are looking for:
Previous experience is not essential. However, experience in the automotive, auto-electrical, electronics, mechanical or locksmithing industry will be an advantage.
We are looking for someone who:
• Is technically minded and enjoys figuring out how things work
• Has a genuine interest in cars, electronics and technology
• Is willing to learn
• Is reliable and hardworking
• Can follow instructions and pay attention to detail
• Is comfortable working with their hands and using basic tools
• Can carefully remove and refit vehicle components
• Has good communication skills
• Wants to develop a specialised technical career
Important – Internship Structure
This is a learning and training position rather than a normal full-salary job.
The successful applicant will receive a basic monthly stipend to assist with transport, meals and daily expenses while gaining valuable practical experience and training.
The goal is to develop someone who can eventually become a skilled technician and potentially take up a permanent position within the business, depending on performance, attitude and progress.
