For farmers and agri-businesses in Nova Scotia considering energy-efficient upgrades, the Advancing Clean Technologies (ACT) program is a great opportunity to be aware of. The program provides funding of up to 60% of eligible project costs for projects such as solar and other clean technology upgrades. The program is available to registered farms, agri-businesses, and Mi’kmaq-led agricultural operations.

Key timelines to be aware of:
- Applications opened February 6, 2026
- Application deadline is March 31, 2026
- Approved projects can submit claims through February 28, 2027

With the recent developments and uncertainty in our community we know some homeowners may be unsure where to turn for service or support with their solar systems right now and moving forward.

High Tide Solar has been working in the local solar industry for years, and we are here to help. Whether its maintenance, troubleshooting, warranty, or repairs for your systems.

High Tide Solar is offering free Solar Monitoring of your system if you currently have the Solis app/Solis system. With this we check on your system daily for troubles, faults, or issues within your system. This can take the stress of not knowing what a fault or warning means and give you peace of mind that your systems well-being is not on you to figure out!

The Municipality of Colchester is looking into a community solar project in Debert that could help more households benefit from solar, even if installing panels on your own property isn’t an option. It can be a great fit for renters, condos, or homes that aren’t ideal for rooftop or ground-mounted solar.

A lot of people ask what the Solar Colchester program looks like in real numbers. Here’s a simple payment side-by-side from a recent install.

Without solar, this homeowner’s average Nova Scotia Power bill was $235 per month. With solar through the Solar Colchester loan program, their monthly solar payment is now $195, covering their full electricity use.

After the 15-year term, the system is paid off, and the electricity it produces is essentially free aside from Nova Scotia Power’s basic service charge.

Every home is different and the numbers won’t always line up exactly like this, but examples like this help show what’s possible.
