Even Covid-19 wasn’t enough to postpone the scheduled autumn planting of nearly 1000 natives on the upper terraces of Flagstaff Hill in the past few days It just meant it was a lonesome planter on the job, instead of a team. Thank you, Dylan from Upfront environmental.
The planting marks the final stage of this successful project. The 55m hill had a long history of slipping, so last year a series of terraces were formed on the hill’s problematic east and north-east faces. A big thank you to contractors Fulton Hogan and our own Infrastructure team for a great job - on time, within budget and smoothly managed.

This years Awesome planting season is nearly over. Hitting the target of more than 15,000 native trees planted on DCC reserve. Thanks to Dunedin City Council , Ribbonwood Nurseries , Mataraki volunteers and our hard working team members.

Repairs to the Frasers Gully track have been completed and the track is open again. The track was damaged during the July 2017 floods but is now safe to use.
