Our New Zealand Green Building Council Homestar accredited professionals can advise on and deliver green building projects, assist in the design or building of a Homestar project by providing advice and recommendations. A “healthy home” is one that does not have construction materials, furnishings, and operating systems that contribute to making your family sick. Some common household products, appliances, structural materials and energy improvements have unhealthy. Indoor air pollution from combustion appliances and household products can be higher than pollution levels found outdoors (US Environmental Protection Agency). If your home is cold, damp or not well insulated, and you meet Auckland Council's eligibility criteria, you can apply for up to up to $5000 financial assistance through the Retrofit Your Home Programme which is paid back through your rates over nine years. If you’re applying for help to pay for ceiling and under-floor insulation, you can also apply for an ENERGYWISE™ grant through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA).
