We’re truly pleased with how this space evolved from a blank canvas into a home shaped with a deeper understanding of how our client lives today and envisions living in the years ahead. Because for us, design is never only about how a space looks, it is equally about how it feels, how it flows, and how effortlessly it supports everyday life.

Guided by our concept of Calm Continuum Living, we envisioned a retirement home that feels warm, calming, and quietly elegant, while thoughtfully considering comfort, lighting, accessibility, circulation, and ease of use. We carefully studied the existing canvas entrusted to us, looking beyond its original configuration to explore how each area could function better and respond more meaningfully to the client’s lifestyle, incorporating thoughtful details throughout the home to improve storage, movement, comfort, and long-term ease of use.

This is how we approach transformation: with careful planning, thoughtful design, and respect for the possibilities within the space we are given.

Deeply honored to receive another Good Design Award Philippines: Red Award, this time for our overall developments in Alhibe Farm.

Our first and second recognitions came two years ago for our AGWAS Bamboo Café and our Tiny Treehugger Home. What began as a simple heed to a calling — to create with nature — has slowly grown into something we never fully imagined: a way of living, now recognized by the Good Design Award as a regenerative development anchored in bamboo.

On behalf of M+S Studio Co. & Alhibe Farm, and everyone who has been part of this journey, we are deeply grateful for this meaningful recognition.

Alhibe Farm began with a simple question:
Can architecture do more than occupy land? Can it help heal it?

What was once a degraded landscape became an opportunity to restore — not only forests and soil, but also our relationship with nature, community, and the way we choose to build.

This award reminds us that good design is not measured by the size of a building or the scale of investment, but by the positive impact it leaves on people, places, and future generations, for the world they will inherit.

As designers, we carry a responsibility beyond creating beautiful spaces. We have the privilege to create, to care, and to inspire others to care as well.

May this recognition encourage more designers to believe that progress and preservation can grow together.

Built with bamboo, shaped by nature, and designed to last.

The Earth Kitchen at Alhibe Farm , designed by M+S Studio Co. , is one of the spaces where we continue to explore what bamboo can become, not just as an accent, but as a serious structure, a crafted material, and a sustainable way of building.

Years and counting, it stands as proof that bamboo, when designed and built with care, can hold stories, shelter gatherings, and grow beautifully with time.

The Future of Tropical Architecture Is Already Growing.
For more than five years, M+S Studio Co has been designing with bamboo, not simply as a natural finish, but as a serious architectural system for homes, villas, restaurants, retreats, and sustainable destinations.

Our earliest completed bamboo structures are now five years old and counting, demonstrating that when bamboo is properly selected, treated, engineered, detailed, and maintained, it can create architecture that is durable, expressive, and deeply connected to place.

As a rapidly renewable material, bamboo can absorb carbon as it grows, help protect soil, reduce dependence on high-embodied-energy materials, and support local growers, craftsmen, builders, and communities. It also lends itself naturally to tropical architecture through lighter structures, shade, natural ventilation, and breathable spaces.

It has been humbling to see these projects receive recognition:
• AGWAS Café— Haligi ng Dangal Award Honoree 2024 and Good Design Awards Philippines Finalist 2024
• Wooloo Bamboo Villa — Best Sustainable Design, Tatler Homes Design Awards 2023
• Alhibé Farm Balay Aninipot Bamboo Villa — Tatler Homes Design Awards Nominee 2025

Design, for us, is also an act of remembering. This Philippine Independence Day, we are reminded that freedom is not only found in history, but also in the way we choose to build, with respect for place, culture, craft, climate, and community.

As Filipino designers, we continue to shape spaces that are not only beautiful, but meaningful: rooted in the land, guided by local wisdom, and open to the future.

Through natural materials, local craftsmanship, tropical sensibility, and thoughtful design, we hope to contribute to a Filipino design language that is modern, elegant, quiet, and deeply our own.

May we continue to design with purpose, pride, and memory.
