Wuhan Weixingxingyue Square's Sales Exhibition Center was designed by Belt Collins International to do one specific thing: give future residents a physical sense of what living across 7.7 hectares of modern residential landscape will feel like, before construction is complete.

Water, stone, and softscape are the primary materials. Not as decoration, but as a deliberate sequence, water setting the arrival tone, stone grounding the materiality, planting softening the modern geometry into something that reads as liveable rather than merely polished. Each element was chosen to represent the character of the wider Weixing Group development it precedes.
For a project of this scale in Wuhan, Hubei, the exhibition center carries the full weight of the buyer's first impression.

At THE PARC ONE, the gateway reads Quan Họ before a word is spoken.

The name Bắc Giang, which means north of the Thương River, carries the whole of Kinh Bắc cultural identity in two syllables. When Belt Collins International approached the landscape for THE PARC ONE in Bắc Giang City, the design began with three living traditions: Quan Họ folk singing, recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity; the woodblock prints of Đông Hồ; and the dragon boats of the Hội Lim Festival.

The ground-floor landscape translates Quan Họ into built form. A CNC-cut aluminium gateway references the Khăn Xếp folded turban of the male Liền Anh singers. A lakeside pavilion draws its silhouette from the Khăn Mỏ Quạ headscarf of the female Liền Chị. Between them, a Dragon Boat sculpture anchors a community plaza, while the curved pathway named The Current traces the Thương River's own movement through the city.

At Levels 3 and 4, the woodblock print lines of Đông Hồ painting become the geometry of the roof garden, expressed in stone paving, bamboo charcoal ceiling panels, and cascading planting walls. Heritage across three floors is not decorative layering; it is the spatial structure of a contemporary Vietnamese lifestyle.
When local cultural knowledge becomes the structural logic of design, not its decoration, places stop being generic.

Belt Collins International does not begin with a style. At IKI Village, the team began with a question: what does this place want to become? Drawing from the Ginkgo tree, an ancient symbol of longevity, wisdom, and intergenerational connection, Belt Collins CEO & Creative Director Philip Tam shared this vision with partners and investors at the project's Kick-Off event hosted by developer An Khai Hung. The Ginkgo's fan-shaped geometry, autumn warmth, and meditative spirit became the spatial language of the entire community.

Every pathway, garden, water feature, and open space at IKI Village is organised as part of a continuous living journey. The Riverside Promenade transforms the river from backdrop into daily rhythm, a place for families to stroll, rest, and share quiet moments by the water. The Central Park, anchored by a Tranquil Lake, Knowledge Forest, Outdoor Amphitheatre, and Children's Play Hill, serves as the community's beating heart. Sky Gardens extend genuine green space directly into each home.

The result is a landscape where nature is not an amenity but the foundation, one that answers Belt Collins' five design principles: listening to place, culture and history, water as life, multi-sensory detail, and community at the centre.

When ecology becomes the true author of a place, residents do not just inhabit space, they grow with it, across every season of life.

High-rise towers don't have to breathe separately from the forest.

The Shenzhen CITIC International Tower stands 248 metres above Futian District, a vertical headquarters for 21st-century work. Yet the design challenge was immediate: how does a mixed-use office-and-retail tower create genuine reconnection with nature within one of China's densest urban zones? The answer lay not in isolation but in interwoven green space, where ecology becomes the primary author of the spatial experience.

Three spatial strategies embed forest ecology throughout. Sky gardens at multiple levels allow office workers direct access to planted respite during the workday. Terraced planting beds and distinctive paving reconstruct mountain and forest aesthetics, supported by abundant native trees, shrubs, and flowering plantings, 32,992 m² of landscape renewal. Critical to the design, conference centres sit adjacent to sky restaurants, and inter-floor gardens strengthen vertical circulation, deliberately creating spaces where connection and social life can unfold naturally.

The measurable outcome: increased green coverage, improved microclimate, and a building where people at height experience genuine proximity to ecological life rather than its absence. A commercial complex that demonstrates how density and biodiversity strengthen rather than compete.

The profession increasingly recognises this: density need not deny ecology. It demands intention.

One hundred seventy-four rooms, a wellness ecology anchored in volcanic stone, a city within walking distance. This is what we designed for: guests discovering heritage not as observation, but as daily encounter, shaped by careful thought and deep local context. A self-circulating water system becomes the true author of landscape in Hangzhou.

Luna Mansion sits at the threshold of Binjiang District's densest urban fabric, where West Lake views are borrowed through 45° sight lines framed by Phoenix palms. The design challenge: embed ecology and cultural memory into three thousand square meters, without a single generic reference. Belt Collins approached this through hydrology as primary design gesture, a 700-square-meter rain garden feeds the central water feature, closing a system that saves 12,000 tons of water annually while creating spatial choreography that shifts as water moves through the landscape.
The "boundary revolution" strategy, termed "natural flat wash", collapses the distinction between public plaza, semi-private courtyard, and private residence through seamless material transitions. Fiber-optic star tracks embedded in covered walkways recite "Autumn Moon over Peaceful Lake," while 3D-printed copper walls carry the texture of Qiantang River tides, making landscape a vessel for place memory. This tidal imagery extends to the entrance, where horizontal winged walls frame the arrival sequence.
Across the site, a layered ecology emerges: retained camphor groves, 32 bird-attracting species, and a vertical greening system that increases PM2.5 absorption by 35%. The 150% green view ratio, quantified and measurable, sets a pathway for future high-density residential landscapes. Community cultivation programs close the loop: plant adoption, composting, harvest markets.
Luna Mansion demonstrates that urban residential landscape need not be sparse. Instead, it can establish new standards where water, memory, and living systems work as one.

In Chengdu, water does not decorate the garden, it authors it.

Chengdu's identity has been shaped by water for centuries, from ancient imagery of southern water villages to the Funan River threading through the city today. When Belt Collins undertook the 31,040㎡ residential landscape for Xipai City in Wuhou New City, the brief was not a style preference. It was an instruction to translate a city's oldest cultural memory, its relationship with water, into a place where people live.

Three strategies structured the water design. Along the main promenade, thin square-framed reflective pools establish a commanding visual axis. Within the forested interior, cascading water announces itself through sound before sight, the collision of water with architecture producing a layered sensory sequence. Mirror pools placed using the classical "borrowed scenery" principle, drawn from the Yuan Ye garden treatise, double every line of sight, extending the perceived landscape far beyond the estate's boundary.

Stone stepping paths cross the water surface, linking spatial zones through direct tactile experience. After dark, submerged LED strips turn mirror pools into a luminous second garden. The design delivers experience across all five senses, sight, sound, touch, and the bodily ease of living close to water, through every hour of the day.

When a city's cultural relationship with water becomes the design brief, the garden stops imitating nature, and begins to carry it.
