Ekōbius is an experimental sustainable ecological human settlement and is being organized and developed as a socioeconomic model community cooperative. Essentially we are a legally recognized unincorporated independent eco-township in formation. Our ecological natural community covers approximately 19.5 square kilometers has 4 villages that have 6-20 families in each. Together our goal is to maintain and enhance the earth's resources we depend on and make life better for our community residents. We are currently seeking international support through Globcal International as one of its cooperative members in the development of an initiative community resource and opportunity incubator here in the Amazon, which we are calling an open-community educational center. Our programs and projects are developed and approved by our own community leaders and international volunteers visiting Fundo Ekōbius and working with the Ekōbius International Cooperative. Our community is open to visitors by invitation or by advance request and reservation. We also host a volunteer, professional and student projects where people can come as temporary cooperative workers, special ecotourism guests or as students in our survival school project in the Fall of 2014. If you have a tent or are an equipped backpacker you are welcome to stay at Fundo Ekobius or at our visitor's center and 'Caney' located at the entrance to our community. Our organization promotes and represents sustainability, ecological balance, human equality, higher consciousness, peace, love, knowledge and enlightenment through the cooperative ideals of social community supported work and production.
