Who doesn’t love an Underdog? The Northern Catalpa tree is seen all over Indiana, yet you won’t find it in a Garden center. Considered a messy tree and susceptible to breaking branches in storms, it is considered no A list tree. Not allowed to play with the other flowering trees in April and May, it patiently waits for June.
The wait is worth it. Large leaves, large flowers, and large sweet scent fills the early June air. I would like to think maybe God put this tree here to remind us that even when one has a lot of problems, there is a time when one can be glorious.
