City of Somerton commissioned a new water tank to keep pace with the growth of the community on Thursday, July 18th, 2024. The new 1.2 million gallon tank along with the rehabilitation of the two existing steel tanks provides Somerton residents 3.4 million gallons of drinking water storage. Project designed by James Davey and Associates, now part of Core!

Core Engineering Group, PLLC Announces Acquisition of James Davey and Associates, Inc.

Douglas J. Nicholls, PE, RLS, founded Core Engineering Group, PLLC (Core) in February 2004. In the years since, he has surrounded himself with talented colleagues and an impressive roster of collaborative firms. This now includes the 2024 acquisition of James Davey and Associates, Inc. (JDA). JDA is a strong Yuma firm, founded in 1992 by James Davey, providing civil engineering, survey, and construction administration services, with special expertise in water supply and wastewater engineering and the planning and design of irrigation systems. James and his staff are joining the existing Core Team establishing Core as a pre-eminent provider of civil engineering and land surveying services effective, today July 1st.

The Yuma Fire Department's Fire Station 7 was officially opened and dedicated in memory of Fire Chief Raebel for his 24 years of service as Fire Chief (1952-1976). Core was honored to be part of the design and construction team to bring this to reality.

POSITION OPEN: CIVIL CADD DESIGNER
Core Engineering Group is a growing civil engineering and land surveying firm in the Southwest and is looking for a talented civil CAD technician to join our team. Our projects are in a variety of civil engineering areas, from transportation projects to site designs, from local clients to Federal projects, and all levels in between. We focus on quality of life complimenting a productive work environment to produce quality engineering projects with long-term employees.
Requirements are:
• At least 6 years’ experience in CAD with progressive responsibilities.
• At least 3 years’ experience in the civil engineering / surveying field
• Have a highly proficient working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D
Responsibilities Include:
• Perform minor design elements with some direction while working under a civil engineer
• Prepare boundary and topographic surveys to include research on properties, reading legal descriptions, and contacting utilities
• Prepare designs using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with field surveying.
• Technical understand of computer systems in relation to CAD demands.
