Door stuck and refusing to open? The problem can be where the latch meets the strike plate.

On this Edmond job, pressure at the strike plates was causing the door to bind. I repositioned the plates and ground the upper strike area for clearance. The result: the door opens and closes smoothly, with no interference.

Moving into a new home? Changing your house keys is important, but don't forget the garage door opener.

✅ Clear old remotes and keypad codes from your opener's memory.
✅ Reprogram only the remotes and keypads you want to keep.
✅ Keep the door between your garage and home locked.
✅ Check your opener's manual—reset steps vary by model, and some systems also need app access reviewed.

An old remote could still open your garage until you remove its access.

🔐 Security Tip #2: Who still has a code to your door?

If you use a keypad or smart lock, take a minute to review who can unlock it.

• Remove codes for guests or workers who no longer need access.
• Give each person a separate code instead of sharing your main one.
• Use an expiration date for temporary codes if your lock supports it.
• Keep your programming or master code private.

A visit may be over, but an old door code can still work until you remove it.

🚨 Your spare key under the mat? That’s a welcome package.

Five home security habits worth fixing TODAY:

🔑 Ditch the doormat key. Leave a spare with someone you trust.

🏡 New house. Old keys. Big question mark. Rekey after moving in—you don’t know who still has a copy.

🚪 Lock the garage-to-house door. Closing the garage isn’t the same as locking your home.

🏖️ Post the vacation pics AFTER you’re home. Your empty house doesn’t need a public announcement.

🔧 Stop ignoring that loose lock. If you have to lift, shove or jiggle the door to lock it, get the lock and latch checked.
