A homeowner in Scottsdale called about a large snake in her backyard. As Marissa pulled up, the homeowner pointed out that it had just slipped under the gate into the front yard. A quick look confirmed it was a beautiful Coachwhip. After explaining that Coachwhips are harmless, active predators that help keep rodent populations in check, the homeowner was happy to have it released into the nearby desert along the edge of the property.
The Coachwhip, however, had other plans. The moment Marissa made her move, the snake sprinted into a narrow gap in the wall along the front patio and disappeared from sight. With no safe way to retrieve it and the homeowner now comfortable having it around, Marissa left the snake where it was. Sometimes the best outcome is simply helping people understand and peacefully coexist with the wildlife already sharing their neighborhood.
