A change in weather can change pest behavior.

As outdoor conditions become less comfortable, pests may begin searching for protected spaces around homes. Small gaps around doors, windows, vents, rooflines, and utility openings can provide opportunities for unwanted visitors to get inside.

This is why pest prevention should not be treated as a seasonal afterthought. Checking entry points and maintaining a protective perimeter can help reduce opportunities for pests to invade.

Home Run Pest & Termite Control provides ongoing pest protection designed to help keep common North Texas pests outside where they belong.

Your home can become especially attractive to pests when outdoor conditions change.

Rodents and other pests may look for warmth, shelter, moisture, and reliable food sources.

Before they find an easy route inside, inspect the exterior of your property.

Pay attention to:

• Garage door gaps
• Foundation openings
• Damaged screens
• Roofline and vent openings
• Moisture around the structure
• Accessible food and trash

A proactive approach can help reduce opportunities for pests to turn your home into their next hiding place.

Home Run Pest & Termite Control provides professional pest, termite, rodent, and mosquito services for homeowners throughout North Texas.

Before outdoor conditions shift again, give your home a quick pest-prevention check.

1. Check entry points
Look around doors, windows, vents, and utility openings.

2. Control moisture
Look for leaks, drainage issues, and areas where water remains.

3. Secure food sources
Keep pantry goods, pet food, and trash properly contained.

These simple steps can help reduce some of the opportunities pests look for around homes.

When you find an insect inside your home, the first instinct may be to focus on the exact spot where you saw it.

But the bigger question is: How did it get there?

Exterior landscaping, moisture, foundation openings, doors, screens, vents, and nearby pest activity can all influence what eventually makes its way indoors.

Looking at the entire property can provide a better understanding of recurring pest encounters.

10/23/2026

Keeping a home clean is an excellent habit, but cleanliness alone cannot guarantee that pests will stay outside.

Pests may enter through structural openings, seek shelter from outdoor conditions, follow moisture sources, or be attracted by conditions around the property.

That is why effective pest prevention considers more than housekeeping.

The home's exterior, entry points, landscaping, moisture conditions, and surrounding environment can all play a role.

One More Spin. One More Thing.

After the unexpectedly successful debut of the Business Turducken Spin-o-Matic at the 7:30 am networking meeting, Denise faced a question: What should she do in the 9 am session?

She consulted her buddy Ryan, who simply said, “You reset it!”

Many attendees stayed for the second meeting, business cards in hand and engines revving. They were ready to get their cards onto the Spin-o-Matic for a chance to have Denise deliver their next elevator pitch.

That’s when Denise realized she might need to develop the Spin-o-Matic 12 Series to accommodate demand!

Behind the props and silliness, there’s a purpose. Denise meets one-on-one with the selected business to learn what it does, then finds a thoughtful way to combine its message with Home Run Pest & Termite Control or Abracadabra Lawn Pest & W**d Control.

This time, the Spin-o-Matic selected Angie May of One More Thing!

How will Denise combine One More Thing with Abracadabra Lawn Pest & W**d Control?

Three actors. One minute. One Business Turducken Theater production.

Join us Friday at the Plano Chamber for a unique approach to networking and building relationships!

Take a slow walk around your home's exterior and look at it from a pest's perspective.

Check for:

• Foundation cracks or openings
• Damaged window screens
• Gaps around doors
• Standing or persistent moisture
• Accumulated leaves and debris
• Unusual insect activity

You may not spot every potential issue, but regular awareness can help you notice changes sooner.

Professional pest control is an important part of protecting your home, but homeowners also play a role between services.

Simple habits such as sealing food, reducing standing water, checking entry points, managing clutter, and keeping trash secured can reduce opportunities for pests.

Think of pest prevention as a team effort.

Professional service addresses pest pressures while good household habits help make your property less inviting to unwanted visitors.
