Been framing a timber frame porch this week. Got some of the roof boards on today. All the timbers came from cc Allis, we half planed them to knock down the rough spots and that really brings out the grain. This porch is huge, 1128 square feet. There are two “bastard valleys “ in it. That is the actual technical term!! They start out wide and get narrow, so the pitch changes every rafter with a level ridge beam. There were a couple moments where I thought Jared and I might actually have a simultaneous stroke. It was a head scratcher at times.

Got this big critter under roof. Shingles are on, exterior sheathing is done, time to start working on the timber frame porch. Not too bad progress considering two weeks ago all we had was the second story floor system framed. The ceiling height in the great room is 23’5”.

Some pics of what we’ve been working on lately. The first 3 are from a house we are framing out in Franklindale. The great room is going to have a 24’ ceiling in it. The second set is an addition down in standing stone, it’s not every day you get to add onto a silo.

Finishing touches put on this timber frame gazebo this morning. Super fun project. Big thanks to cc allis for letting me radius those 10x10 hemlock braces on their big bandsaw. The cultured stone was Will’s baby. He really enjoys that sort of work.

This young man graduated today! He will be hoping the team full time here at CBC and we couldn’t be more proud of him!! Winner of the NTCC Building Construction and Dedication to The Profession award, he has a very bright future ahead of him.

Tried something new on this new house we are building. House is to be constructed as a slab house, meaning no basement or crawl space. We decided to do poured walls and try them ourselves. Thanks to the skillful guidance of Mark Tims and the crew up to Oggi concrete supply, it went very well. Really enjoyed putting them together and working with the steel form system.
Also, if you’re looking for concrete pumping capabilities, Jordan Wagler from EZ Does it concrete pumping will make your day a whole lot less stressful.

Timber frame pavilion we built this week. All 10x10 main beams, 4x6 rafters and 2x8 tongue and groove roof boards. Still need to do the stone around the bottoms of the pillars and puts some wiring in it, but she’s almost ready for company.

Final finishing touches on this lake house! Homeowner loves it and said “it’s exactly what I wanted”😍😍. Thank you to her for being understanding with all my constant texts and pictures, it’s always nerve wracking to have project going on with the customer 3 hours away. So glad she’s happy.

Some shots of a greenhouse we just built for my neighbors up the road. Fun little fill-in project while we are waiting for countertops and other odds and ends, the customers love it.
