When this customer called for a tank removal we asked for a description of the access to the tank from the outside. They explained the tank was close to the door which led directly to the outside with no stairs involved. While technically accurate it would certainly help to mention other mitigating factors, like the floor is missing, when describing the work site so we don't plummet into the basement when walking in.

The fuel gauge utilizes a float which moves the indicator up or down based upon how much fuel is in a tank. Over-time sludge forms in the tank and it will adhere to the sides of the tank as well as on the float. This added weight will cause it to not function correctly and provide a false reading as to the amount of fuel in the tank.

Underground oil tank removal. This tank was not in use however the homeowner left it in the ground for years. Eventually the remaining oil in the tank spread into the surrounding soil. This means far more cost to the homeowner for the cleanup vs. what it would have cost to have just properly decommissioned it at the time it was no longer being used.
