Walking by the blooming vitex tree at the front of the nursery got me to thinking. It is hard to beat a vitex tree for providing food and nectar for bees. Easily reaching 15' tall ad nearly as wide with hundreds of flowers for months on end, vitex trees feed a lot of bees for quite some time. Eric

We had a young man propose to his girlfriend at the nursery this weekend. Just too cute not to share. By the looks we will assume she accepted the proposal.

We had a wonderful time at the 2nd annual Root Local Think Natives First Plant conference! Made lots of new pals, learned a ton and had a bunch of fun engaging with a community of folks fired up about getting native plants to the forefront of our industry! We'll definitely be back next year!

Obedient Plant, Penstemon, Salvia.

Something these three incredible plants have in common is the trumpet shape of their blooms. Having a variety of bloom types is a great choice when you are gardening to support pollinators. Trumpet shapes like this are great for butterflies and hummingbirds who are able to reach deep into the flower, although you'll see plenty of bees on these three pollinator powerhouses as well.

Just a reminder that the 2026 Great Southeast Pollinator Census is on August 21 & 22nd. This is a great opportunity for you to participate in important citizen science! Check out our pals at gsepc.com or Becky Griffin to get all the info you need to get involved.
