How To Prep Outdoor Faucets Before Cool Nights Hit
Cool nights are coming, and outdoor faucets are one of the first things to freeze when they do. A frozen hose bib can crack the pipe behind your wall, and you might not find out until spring.
Start simple. Disconnect and drain all garden hoses, shut off the interior valve to outdoor spigots if you have one, and let the faucet drain fully. If your faucet already drips or the handle feels loose, get it repaired before the cold sets in.
A small drip now can turn into a burst pipe later. It is a cheap problem to prevent and an expensive one to ignore.
