Carmichael Development recently had the opportunity to host Ground Crew, bringing together construction industry leaders from across the country to exchange ideas, share experiences, and get a firsthand look at how different companies operate.

As Andy Carmichael explains, it's encouraging to see that many of us face similar challenges, and there's real value in learning how others approach them.

We were proud to open our doors, share some insight into our own operations, and walk away with fresh perspectives and ideas to bring back to our team.

Making progress in Powder Springs.

With clearing complete and erosion control measures in place, our crews are now focused on installing the stormwater management system for a new 320-unit residential development.

Strong communication and coordination with Thompson Thrift have helped keep each phase moving efficiently, allowing our team to stay ahead of challenges and maintain momentum on site.

Another step forward as we continue laying the groundwork for what's to come.

Four months of progress at RaceTrac Kingston.

Across more than 30 acres, the Carmichael team has moved through clearing, erosion control, mass grading and stormwater management, with roughly 180,000 cubic yards of dirt being moved along the way.

Now, work is shifting toward the deceleration lane while the remaining water and sewer utility work nears completion.

Phase by phase, strong communication between our crews and RaceTrac Construction has kept the project moving and helped us stay ahead of challenges as they come.

FROM THE GROUND UP: CARLOS ALVARADO

For Carlos, safety has always been about more than policies, paperwork and checking boxes.

Growing up around construction, Carlos saw firsthand the toll the industry could take on workers and the gaps that existed in training and communication. That experience helped shape his approach today as Safety Director for Carmichael Development, where he oversees safety across the company’s projects and development operations.

In this episode of From the Ground Up, Carlos talks about what separates a safety program on paper from a true safety culture in the field. It means making sure everyone, from the crews doing the work to company leadership, understands what is expected and has a voice in the process.

For Carlos, that standard comes down to education, communication and creating an environment where safety is part of the work every day, not just when someone is watching.

It’s an approach that continues to shape the way Carmichael works with its people, its contractors and every project it takes on.

Jason McCarty has consistently demonstrated the kind of work ethic, leadership, and attitude that make a real impact in the field. As a Superintendent, Jason leads by example, approaching every challenge with precision, accountability, and a strong commitment to getting the job done right.

There have been numerous occasions when Jason has stayed late into the night to address issues and keep projects moving forward, never complaining and always focused on finding a solution. He does whatever it takes to help the company succeed while maintaining a positive attitude and earning the respect of those around him.

Jason is a strong representation of Carmichael Development’s core values of humility, integrity, and wisdom, and we’re proud to recognize him as our September Employee of the Month.
