Momentum Tree Experts Most tree work causes damage—it just isn’t obvious right away. We’re built to prevent that. Most tree work causes damage — it just isn’t obvious right away.

Every recommendation reduces risk, protects your property, and preserves what’s worth keeping—so you don’t regret your decision years from now. Poor cuts, over-pruning, and unnecessary removals often show up years later as decline, added risk, or expensive corrections. That’s exactly what we’re built to prevent. Every recommendation we make is designed to reduce long-term risk, protect your property, and preserve what’s actually worth keeping. That might mean removing a tree when it’s truly necessary — or doing far less than most companies would suggest. Our goal is simple: help you make a decision you won’t regret five or ten years from now. If that level of thought and care matters to you, we’re a strong fit. Steel cabling is a legitimate tree preservation tool.

The real challenge is ensuring that it is prescribed appropriately and the crew performing it has enough technical knowledge and training to install them properly. We see SO many steel cables that are incorrectly installed, or an inappropriate solution. We know that the intention is well-meaning, but we all know that good intentions do not guarantee good outcomes unfortunately.

Tree species, age, circumstances, location, height of install, angles, pretensioning, hardware selection... and more. All things that have to be factored in when prescribing and installing steel cabling in order for it actually to be a value add versus a tree ornament or even leaving the tree in worse condition.

This is why we are constantly training and learning. So that when we prescribe and execute steel or dynamic cabling, we know our clients are getting the most accurate information and can trust that it is truly the best solution and that it is installed correctly.

Deadwood removal on a mature pin oak — and for arborists, you already know what that means. IYKYK..... 😬

For everyone else, just know this is not a beginner job. Pin oaks are one of the most demanding canopies to work in, and proper deadwood removal at this height and scale takes real skill.

This was a newer climber stepping into a serious scope of work for the first time. He didn’t just handle it — he nailed it!

Trees remember every cut they’ve ever received.

This silver maple has been carrying this cavity for years, the result of a large removal cut that was too much for the tree to seal over. No blame, just biology.

It’s one of the reasons modern arboriculture has moved toward smaller, more strategic cuts. We want to work with how trees heal, not against it!

Don't make the mistake of measuring the quality of your tree care by the quantity of material you see on the ground or "how different" the tree looks after! A bigger pile of brush doesn’t mean a better job.

We’re not here to look busy — we’re here to do right by your trees. That means only removing what needs to go, making clean cuts the tree can heal from, and leaving your canopy stronger than we found it.

That’s the job. Every time.

4 spruce stumps. 4 preventable losses.

The mature spruces surrounding this property are thriving. These four never had a chance — improper planting from the start set them up to fail long before we arrived.
