Our latest project is complete, and this one meant a little more than just putting fresh paint on the walls. 🤍
This church was built in 1917. After more than a century of life within these walls, it had been out of commission for quite some time and was ready for some much-needed love and care. We had the opportunity to help breathe new life into this beautiful old building as it prepares for an entirely new purpose—one centered around healing, creativity, connection, and hope.
Coming this September, these doors will reopen as the Born Abel Sanctuary – Emanuel Healing Arts Studio, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people who have experienced trauma, grief, and loss.🕊️
Sometimes there simply aren’t words for what a person is carrying. Losing someone you love can leave a space in your life that nothing can truly replace. Born Abel is creating a place where people can walk through the door exactly as they are, get creative, make something beautiful, connect with others, and hopefully find a little healing along the way.
Jessie, the founder of Born Abel, is an incredible woman who knows grief and pain in a deeply personal way. Instead of allowing that pain to be the end of her story, she has chosen to turn it into something that may help someone else through theirs. There’s something pretty powerful about that.
Painting is usually about transformation—taking something worn, dated, or forgotten and giving it another chance to become something beautiful.
This project felt like a reminder that people deserve that same chance, too.🤍
If you’re struggling right now, tomorrow is another day. Life can still hold beauty after loss. You can still laugh. You can still love. You can still find purpose. Moving forward doesn’t mean forgetting the people we’ve lost, and finding happiness again doesn’t mean we loved them any less.
The people we miss become part of who we are. They live in the stories we tell, the memories we carry, the lessons they left behind, and the love that doesn’t disappear just because they’re no longer physically here.
So keep going. Let yourself heal. Let yourself grow. Create something beautiful with the life you still have.
Make them proud. And make yourself proud, too. 💓
It was an honor for Novel Painting LLC to play even a small part in giving this 109-year-old building a new beginning—and we can’t wait to see how much healing happens inside these walls during its next chapter.
