It’s been a minute but we had been so busy with all the fun life changes! Lots of harvests coming up and honey is available!

We had an amazing week last week at the Cuming County Fair and got our first Blue Rosette for best honey! This really meant a lot to us as we are pushing ourselves to continue to grow!

Harvest time!!! Who needs a jar?

We are blown away! We harvested 7 gallons of honey on Friday and completely sold every drop by Sunday with just one Facebook post and some word of mouth! We cannot thank you enough for your support! If you missed out, don’t worry! This was just our first harvest this summer and the honey will keep flowing! Stay tuned for our next one in just a few weeks!

Alright if your first thought when seeing these pictures is “man they need to spray those weeds” we mighhhhhhht need to have a conversation. If you’re a stickler for the perfect lawn, bear with me.

Go ahead and zoom in with the pictures. You might see our friend, the honeybee. While seeing a yard full of dandelions might be a stressor for some, for us, it’s a breath of fresh air. For us it means the honey is coming! Dandelions are one of the first sources of pollen and nectar our bees get access to in the spring. And honestly one of the best! Did you know dandelions are a super food? They are highly nutritious! Here’s some of their benefits:

Liver and gallbladder support: dandelion root is traditionally used to detox the liver.

Key nutrients: dandelion leaves are rich in iron, potassium, and calcium.

Antioxidants: dandelion flowers can protect cells from damage and reduce inflammation.

Digestive aid: inulin in the root acts as a prebiotic helping to break down fat.

Natural diuretic: dandelion leaves can reduce water retention and reduce blood pressure.

There have also been studies that show that dandelion can help with blood sugar, cholesterol, and some types of cancer cells.

When our bees get their pollen and nectar from dandelions they’re bringing a lot of that good stuff into the honey!

The best part is dandelions are all over the place! They’re free! Go get them and make some tea or have the leaves in your salad! As long as the dandelions have not been sprayed they are safe to consume! I enjoy using them in soap making as well!

Last week was very exciting! We picked up 90,000 new bees for our new hives we are starting this year! We acquired a new trailer that we are planing on turning into our mobile honey harvest trailer and Blaine set up his first prototype for a hive he’s working on! (I will share more about that in the future)

Also my children got their first bee stings 🥲 We learned not to grab bees! 😉
