Keeping sewer lines clear takes the right tools and the right experience.

In this video, you can see one of the specialized tools we use in action. The adjustable chain knocker attaches to our drain cleaning equipment and spins through the pipe to gently remove scale, buildup, and blockages.

It is tough on buildup, but designed to protect the pipe — whether it is cast iron, concrete, or Orangeburg.

If your sewer line is draining slowly, backing up, or showing signs of buildup, we can help get things flowing again.

Not all sewer pipes are the same — and Orangeburg pipe needs to be handled with care.

This is one of the tools we use to clean Orangeburg sewer lines. The chain head spins inside the pipe to break up buildup and restore flow while helping us work carefully on older pipe material.

If you have recurring backups, or an older sewer line, it may be time for a sewer inspection and cleaning. Be sure to choose the right team, with the right tools for the job!

The Problem with Orangeburg Pipe

Orangeburg pipe was commonly used for sewer lines in many older homes. It was made from layers of wood pulp and tar, which made it lightweight and inexpensive at the time.

The problem is that Orangeburg does not hold up well over the years. As it ages, it can start to blister, flake, soften, collapse, or separate. Once that happens, sewage flow becomes restricted and the line can back up into the home.

Today, when we find Orangeburg pipe in this condition, it usually needs to be replaced or lined. If your home has an older sewer line and you are noticing slow drains, backups, or sewer odors, it may be time for a camera inspection.

We can help identify the issue and recommend the right fix before it becomes a bigger problem.

Welcome, Baily!

Baily recently moved his family from Colorado to Wisconsin to join our team, and we’re excited to have him on board. He brings strong expertise in CCTV sewer inspection and municipal sewer mapping, making him a great addition to our trenchless department.

In his new role, Baily will continue inspecting and mapping sewer systems while also helping with sewer line replacements through pipe bursting and lining. We’re glad to have him as part of the team!

🎣 Good luck to Logan, Gabe, and Ron on opening weekend!

Logan and Gabe are bobber fishing from the canoe, while Ron is rolling up in the bass boat with a musky bait big enough to scare the fish before it even hits the water. 😂

We hope you all have tight lines, big bites, and a weekend full of great stories. Just remember: if anyone asks where they are, they’ve gone fishing!

And don’t worry — while these guys are chasing fish, our HVAC department is still available for emergency service.

Good luck, guys! 🐟

Today is both a sad day and a happy day.

Today, we sold the building where I started my business 32 years ago: Steve’s Plumbing.

Back then, Dee and Colleen Stevenson owned the building. I stopped by to let them know I was going into business for myself. About a week later, they called and said they had a portion of their building they would rent to me. They put together a plan that allowed me to pay very little at first, and as the business grew, I would pay more.

I accepted their offer, and that is where we built Steve’s Plumbing, at 1138 6th Street South.

We later bought the building from Dee and Colleen when they retired from their remodeling business. Over the years, we outgrew that building, but we did our best to stay there. We rented other buildings and property nearby to keep most of our trucks, trailers, and supplies close.

Eventually, I bought property to build a new building, but there were some roadblocks to work through. Then 964 Hwy 73 became available. We bought it and remodeled the office so we could conduct business our way.

Today, we have 14 acres, 74 storage units, and we store 126 campers each fall and winter. We also have a 6,000-square-foot building, nice offices, and the ability to keep everything in one location.

This new location has been a big change, but a very good one. We are truly enjoying the new building and everything it allows us to do.

Selling the original building brings back a lot of memories. It is hard to say goodbye to the place where it all started, but I am also grateful for how far we have come.

Thanks for the support over these years,
Steve
