🔧 HVAC Tip Tuesday: “The 20° Rule”

Did you know your A/C is designed to cool your home about 20°F below the outdoor temperature - not to turn it into a meat locker?

👉 If it’s 95°F outside, setting your thermostat to 70°F may overwork your system and spike your energy bill.
✅ Instead, aim for a realistic target - around 75°F - and use ceiling fans to help circulate cool air.

*Bonus Tip*: Closing blinds during peak sun hours can reduce indoor temps by up to 10°F!

Many people believe that it takes more energy to cool your home back down after turning the AC off, so they leave it running all day—even when no one’s home. But in reality, turning your AC off (or setting it higher) while you're away saves energy. Your system doesn’t have to work harder to “catch up”—it simply cools the space from its current temperature. Smart thermostats or programmable settings can help strike the perfect balance between comfort and efficiency.
