🚰 CASCO PLUMBING TIP: “Why Did My Water Pressure Suddenly Drop?”
Have you noticed your shower isn’t hitting like it used to? 🚿
Or maybe the water starts out strong and then suddenly becomes a trickle?
You’re not alone. This is one of the plumbing questions homeowners are asking online right now.
And here’s the thing: low water pressure doesn’t always mean you need a new well pump or bigger plumbing.
Some common causes include:
🔹 A failing pressure regulator
🔹 A clogged whole-house filter
🔹 A partially closed valve
🔹 Mineral or sediment buildup
🔹 A restriction somewhere in the plumbing
🔹 A problem with your well pump or pressure tank
🔹 A leak that’s robbing your system of pressure
💡 If you’re on a well, don’t automatically assume the pump is bad. Your pressure switch, pressure tank, filter, piping, and pump all work together. A problem with any one of them can affect the pressure you feel at the fixtures.
Here’s a simple test:
Turn on an outside spigot and watch how the pressure behaves. If the pressure starts normal and drops dramatically while water is running, that’s an important clue.
Don’t just turn up the pressure switch and hope for the best. You can make an existing problem worse.
