Here is a master bathroom remodel recently completed 6x24 “wood plank ceramic porcelain tile on the walls and 12x12 ceramic porcelain tile on the floor with heated flooring. Customer was very pleased with the finished project. I love the colors they picked out coordinate with the tile.
Also, there is a photo of a kitchen backsplash completed last December with 3x6 marble subway tile and a picture frame designed with marble chair rail and “pencil” liners to add profile around herringbone focal point behind stove.

Laundry room floor remodel with antique thin brick pavers. Herringbone pattern on the diagonal with 8” border around the perimeter. It was a challenge. I love the results.

Recent master bathroom remodel we completed. I only wish I had taken some “before” photos. We redesigned the shower to add more natural light inside. The customer was very pleased with the results.

Here is a kitchen backsplash installation we recently completed. I like the way it ties in the cabinets and countertops along with the floor. Somebody came in and made a comment that the kitchen looks totally different. The backsplash tile consists of 1/2”x 6” and 1”x6” put together as a mosaic. The mosaic consists of Italian bottochino and travertine, Spanish empredora marble and a “crazed” glass finish on ceramic tile.
Another job we completed was a floor repair for a married couple in their 80’s. Before we did the repair, the floor had been repaired with 2 tiles that did not even match. So the wife came up with the idea of making a rug (tile inlay) in the middle of her kitchen floor. When we did the layout with the “groovy lookin’ 8x8 tile, the grout joints where to big (1/2”). I came up with the idea of making a border around the inlay. She had some extra tile from the previous repair. This is the result of a little extra thought and will to get the job “done”. The wife was very happy and the husband was happy that the wife was happy. The dark spot in the photo is their dachshund doing her job. Protecting the hands that feed her.
The last set of photos is a tear out and remodel of a bathroom that had a black prefabricated shower enclosure that reminded me of the “black hole” recently discovered by scientists. It was dark and scary. The floor was a mixy-matchy combination of 3 colors. More mixy than matchy. It came with the house when they purchased it and lived with it approximately 15 years. Now they have what they want. The red paint is going also. I would like to see the finished project. The wife came up with the design. I wish I had “before “ photos to share to show you the transformation.

Since 1991, I have enjoyed my trade tremendously, Because a former employer gave me the opportunity to change professions in lean times, I learned this trade from the groundwork. Starting as a helper and moving forward being mentored by experienced tile installation mechanics with more than 30 yrs. experience respectfully in and around the Washington DC area for approximately 17yrs. With 1 employer. It took me nearly 5 yrs. to learn the trade by hands on experience before I was able with confidence of my employer to manage and complete tile projects he gave me to the satisfaction of not only himself, but the customer also. Our goal was to please the customer as it is still my goal today.
In October 2006, I started my own business with the confidence that I have received working with other tradesmen, contractors as well as customers to their satisfaction. Humbly, I have made it through the rough times in the economy. Humbly, I am still in business today. I have enjoyed the working relationships with customers and contractors in the past and continue looking forward in the present and future. I appreciate and I can be of any service to you in the trade I have chosen to pursue.
Sincerely,
John Kahle/ JFK Tile Co.
