The national preparedness level dropped to PL1 today at 7:30 a.m. MDT due to these factors:

πŸ”₯Geographic areas can accomplish incident management objectives utilizing local resources with little or no national support. There is little risk of drawing down capability in any geographic area to support incident operations.
πŸ”₯Conditions are not favorable to support significant wildland fire activity in most geographic areas.
πŸ”₯Resource capability is adequate with little or no mobilization of resources occurring through NICC.
πŸ”₯Potential for emerging significant wildland fires is expected to remain minimal.

While in fire season, debris burning is prohibited on ODF-protected lands. 𝑩𝒖𝒕 π’˜π’‰π’‚π’• π’Šπ’‡ π’šπ’π’–β€™π’“π’† π’π’–π’•π’”π’Šπ’…π’† 𝒐𝒇 𝑢𝑫𝑭 π’‹π’–π’“π’Šπ’”π’…π’Šπ’„π’•π’Šπ’π’?

The easiest way to look up if it is safe to burn your yard debris is to visit beforeyouburn.net. The Before You Burn program simplifies and coordinates burns and provides real-time information to ensure the safety of Oregon’s communities.

If you're curious about regulations around your upcoming camping, hunting or other outdoor recreation trip, look up the campsite or forest you're planning to visit before heading out.

The common theme, especially during this time of year, is to check local regulations before you go. Taking that extra step will help protect Oregon’s forests from wildfire and keep them open for recreation.

🚩 CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER! 🚩

Dry vegetation and strong winds will increase wildfire danger across parts of California starting early Thursday morning.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect:
πŸ”ΉSierra Nevada range and foothills: 12 a.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday.
πŸ”ΉPortions of Lake County: 4 a.m. Thursday to 2 p.m. Thursday.
πŸ”ΉLos Angeles, Kern, and Ventura counties: early Thursday morning through 10 p.m. Friday.

A Fire Weather Watch is in effect Friday morning through Friday afternoon for the mountains of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties.

In portions of Lake County, a Fire Weather Watch will take effect late Thursday night, after the Red Flag Warning expires, and remain in effect through Friday afternoon.

Why does this matter? Dry vegetation can ignite easily, and strong winds can quickly spread flames into new areas, making wildfires harder to control and threatening nearby communities.

Avoid any and ALL activities that could spark a wildfire. Keep your go-bag ready, know at least two evacuation routes, and be prepared to leave if an evacuation is ordered.

Did you know? Six Rivers has its own night shift!

Northern spotted owls hunt by perching on branches and pouncing on small mammals such as woodrats, mice, and squirrels.

With chocolate brown feathers, white spots, and dark eyes, this forest resident has quite the signature look!

This one was photographed right here on Six Rivers National Forest.
