MB Stone Professional MB STONE Professional gives you the tools you need to outperform your competition. Want predictable results? That's just what our products will give you!

MB Stone Professional is a supply and training business for the shapers and refinishers of stone. But it’s also much more than that. MB Stone Professional is named for its late founder, Maurizio “MB” Bertoli. MB was an icon in the stonework and contracting business - not just for the quality of his work, but for the openness, passion, and love he brought to it. MB dedicated himself to developing cutting-edge innovations in the stone industry, writing and speaking about stone restoration, and connecting with everyone he could who shared his love of the beauty of stone. Personal connection, freely-given advice, education, and tailoring the work to the stone were MB’s watchwords, and MB Stone Professional lives by them in his memory. Currently run by Stu Rosen, who worked closely with MB before his death, MB Stone Professional is dedicated to providing the best tools, advice, and training to both professional stoneworkers and consumers with an interest to learn stone refinishing techniques. We follow MB’s principles of education, service, and focus on the stone; we tailor our products and training to the stone being reshaped and refinished, not the other way around. We listen to our customers’ needs and provide matchless customer service. If you work with stone and need tools to provide you consistently high-quality work, training to enhance your skill set and passion, or perspective from people who love and understand stone as much as you do, MB Stone Professional is the place for you. Restoration Tip Tuesday 🛠️

More aggressive doesn’t always mean more effective.
Start with what the surface actually needs, evaluate how it responds, then adjust your process from there. The goal isn’t to do more to the stone. It’s to do exactly what’s needed to get the right result.
Assess. Test. Adjust. Restore.

Details Matter 🔍

A finish can look perfect from one angle and reveal something completely different from another.
Before you call the job done, move around the surface. Check the reflection. Look at it under different lighting. Catch the inconsistencies your customer might notice later.

The details you catch before you leave are the details they never have to call you back about.

A clean surface isn’t always a restored surface. Dullness, uneven reflection, traffic wear, and etching can all point to issues that cleaning alone won’t correct. Knowing how to recognize what the surface is telling you helps determine the right restoration process before the work begins.

Read the surface. Identify the problem. Restore with purpose.

🧪 Test first. Commit second.

A small test area can tell you a lot before you tackle the entire job.

How is the stone responding? Is your process getting the result you expected? Is there something you need to adjust before moving forward?

Taking a few extra minutes to test can save you time, frustration, and a much bigger problem later.

Let’s hear it. 👇

What stone gives you the most trouble?

Marble? Travertine? Granite? Limestone? Terrazzo? Or something else entirely?

Every material has its quirks, and everyone has that one that makes them work a little harder.

The last 10% is what the customer notices. đź‘€

You can get the main surface looking great, but the details finish the job.

Edges. Corners. Transitions. Cleanup. Consistency from one area to the next.

That final attention to detail is what takes a job from “looks good” to professionally finished.

Clean and restored aren’t the same thing.

Cleaning removes dirt and buildup from the surface.

Restoration addresses what cleaning can’t: etching, scratches, wear, loss of finish, and other damage that has changed the stone itself.

Knowing the difference means knowing when the surface needs more than another round of cleaning.

🔎 Don’t treat the symptom. Find the cause.

A stain, haze, discoloration, or dull area is telling you something.

Before deciding how to correct it, take the time to figure out what caused it. The right restoration process starts with understanding the problem, not just what you see on the surface.

A little investigation up front can save a lot of time later.
