🌱 Welcome to Seeds We Plant – Lessons from the Garden 🌱

Rosanna has been learning about the different varieties of pepper plants — and there’s more to it than just putting seeds in the soil.

Pepper seeds have a tougher outer shell, so before planting, she soaked them in water for 12–24 hours to help soften the seed coat and encourage better germination. The next day, we carefully labeled each variety and planted them — sweet peppers and hot peppers — making sure everything was organized and documented.

This simple process teaches more than gardening. It’s science, patience, planning, and responsibility. It’s understanding that preparation matters. It’s learning that different varieties have different characteristics — and that details count.

Just like in tree care, success doesn’t happen by accident. It starts with knowledge, preparation, and steady effort.

These are the seeds we plant today — lessons in education, hard work, and growth that reach far beyond the garden. 🌶️🌱

🌳 The Power of Proactive Pruning 🌳

Since 2020, we’ve been keeping detailed records of the work we do and the numbers tell an important story. To date, Treeman Tom LLC has completed 424 pruning work orders. That number represents far more than 424 trees, as many properties had multiple trees pruned during a single visit.

Out of those jobs, 257 were hazard, thinning, and structural prunes specifically aimed at reducing risk and strengthening trees. This type of pruning is about more than appearance, it’s about protecting our customers, their homes, tress health and their property from severe weather, like the strong wind storms we’ve seen this winter.

Here’s what we’re most proud of: while we’ve received storm damage calls from many customers over the years, none of those calls were for trees we previously pruned. That’s the value of doing the right work at the right time.

🌨️ Heavy Snow Load & Tree Care – What You Need to Know 🌲

Snow is a natural part of a tree’s life. In normal amounts, it actually helps trees develop strength and structure over time. But when snow loads become excessive especially on weeping forms, newly planted trees, evergreens, and umbrella-style trees that weight can quickly turn from beneficial to damaging.

In this photo, you’re looking at a Golden Hinoki Cypress with over 10 inches of snow weighing down its arching top and branches. This tree was specifically purchased for its unique form, and to help protect it, it was cabled back to the porch to provide additional support during winter snow loads. Even with that support, you can see how heavily the snow is pulling the canopy down.

Left unmanaged, heavy snow loads like this can lead to:
• Permanent branch deformation
• Splitting or breakage
• Loss of the tree’s intended shape
• Stress on newly established root systems

Selective snow removal in these situations isn’t about fighting nature it’s about risk management and protecting the long-term health and structure of the tree.

If you have specialty trees, newly planted trees, or evergreens holding excessive snow, it’s worth having them assessed. Preventing damage now is far easier and far less costly than repairing it later. 🌲
