As the summer wraps up, we are proud to introduce our third intern, and our namesake, McKinley Uzzell.

McKinley is a construction management major at East Carolina University, pursuing a career in commercial construction.

“I chose McKinley because they lived up to their values, importantly their values of faith and family,” he says.

So far, he has enjoyed the structured, motivated, and grounded environment in which he has been able to learn and grow in throughout the summer.

From this internship, he hopes to gain insight into how each role operates individually and in collaboration to complete a project, from pre-construction and project management to the day-to-day tasks of a superintendent.

McKinley, we enjoyed having you at McKinley this summer, and we are glad you got to see each of these positions in action both on-site and in the office.

Family-owned and styled with a chic coastal interior, a rich backstory and an expertly crafted menu have established The Sounder as a local favorite.

This coastal American restaurant was created by Caroline and Grant Steadman in collaboration with Executive Chef Jason Burrows as a neighborhood gathering place encapsulating the warmth of the East Coast shores and lifestyle.

From locally sourced, signature seafood dishes to fresh craft cocktails, The Sounder is about to become your new go-to spot for happy hour and lively dinners with family and friends. Go visit The Sounder on 5400 Oleander Dr, Wilmington, and let us know what you think!

We are so proud to have helped bring this vision to life. Thank you Caroline and Grant for partnering with McKinley, and for bringing such an intentional, sophisticated restaurant to our area.

An upfit on one of our most meaningful projects is underway!

Legal Aid of North Carolina will be relocated to an office suite within the Jo Ann Carter Harrelson Center, the former New Hanover County Jail that has been repurposed into a collaborative nonprofit campus serving the Wilmington community.

This project is one of many Harrelson Center renovations McKinley has been a part of since 2007.

The 3,900 square-foot third-floor renovation will include a welcome lobby and reception area, private client interview room, 9 enclosed offices, open work areas, conference room, and a kitchen and copy room–supporting both confidential client services and team collaboration.

We are grateful for the opportunity to help bring such a valuable resource to Wilmington. Thank you to Harrelson Center for your continued partnership with McKinley, and for your contribution to our community.
