From a blank wall to a finished story. 🎨🌳❤️

Eight days of painting, problem-solving, layering, adjusting, detailing, and bringing this memorial mural to life for Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

Every element was chosen with meaning — the roots, the original church, the growing oak tree, the cardinals, daffodils, butterflies, and scripture — all coming together to represent faith, history, remembrance, growth, and the generations still to come.

There’s something especially satisfying about seeing the entire process compressed into a few minutes after spending days standing in front of that wall with a paintbrush in my hand.

Thank you to Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church for trusting me to create something that will become part of the story of this church. ❤️

Final Day 8!! 🎨🦋❤️

The Mount Calvary memorial mural is officially complete.

Today I finished the butterflies, made the final touch-ups, and got to step back and see the entire mural come together.

From the roots and original church to the strong oak, cardinals, scripture, daffodils, and butterflies, every part of this mural was created to represent faith, history, growth, remembrance, and the continued life of this church community.

I’m so grateful to Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church for trusting me with such a meaningful project.

There’s nothing quite like that final day when all of the little pieces finally become one finished story. Faith. History. Growth. Remembrance.

Day 7 of the Mount Calvary Memorial Tree Mural 🌳🎨
Today I finished the right-side roots, completed the remaining tree canopy, and worked in the memorial monument and surrounding details.
At this point, the mural is almost complete.
What’s left now are the butterflies, a few final details, and touch-ups throughout the wall — so today should be the final painting day. ❤️
It’s been incredible watching this 21-foot mural grow from an empty wall into a full scene filled with history, symbolism, and life.

Day 6 of the Memorial Tree Mural 🌳🎨
Today I made major progress on the right side of the wall, continuing the landscape, cardinal, scripture area, and extending the tree across the doorway.
The whole mural is finally starting to come together, but I still have the upper-right canopy, the remaining root work, and final detailing/touch-ups ahead of me.
I’m estimating about 2 more painting days to bring it all home.

Day 5 of the Memorial Tree Mural 🌳❤️
The left side is basically complete, and most of the tree canopy is now filled in. Today I’m moving into the right side and continuing to build out the remaining branches, leaves, and details.
It’s been really satisfying watching this wall transform piece by piece — from the original church and landscape to the roots, tree, flowers, and cardinal. I’m getting close now, with probably about 3 painting days left before this 21-foot mural is complete.

The foundation of the 21-foot Holy Tree is taking shape! 🌳✨
Day 4 inside here in Wilmington, NC. Today was all about the heavy lifting: shaping, shading, and texturing the massive tree trunk and the sprawling branches across the left side and top of the wall.
It takes a lot of patience to give a tree this massive a sense of realism and depth, but seeing the structure locked into place makes all the hours worth it.
Tomorrow, I’m moving down to tackle the right-side roots and the ground texture. These roots are a special part of the project because they will eventually hold the physical donor plaques to honor the church community!
