Kersting Architecture

09/24/2026

We’re honored to share that Kersting Architecture has been named on Best in State Residential Architects list for 2026.

For more than 30 years, our work has been shaped by the people we design for and the places they call home. This recognition reflects the care our team brings to every project, the contributions of our collaborators, and the trust our clients place in us.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of that work. We’re grateful to share this recognition with you.

We are always interested in how thoughtful design can create places that are sustainable, resilient, and genuinely enjoyable, such as for this project.

BREAKING NEWS!
What an incredible night at the 2026 George Matsumoto Prize awards ceremony.

We’re honored to share that Kersting Architecture received not one, but two First Prize awards:

People’s Choice Award – Best New Residence in North Carolina
HOME@9

Jury Award – Best Renovation in North Carolina
Edgewater

The George Matsumoto Prize, presented annually by NCModernist, recognizes the finest contemporary residential architecture in North Carolina and is the state’s largest and most prestigious residential architecture awards program.

To have two very different projects recognized at the highest level—one selected by the public and the other by a distinguished jury of architects—is incredibly meaningful to our team, and is another wonderful story in the legacy of our firm and late founder, Michael.

We’re deeply grateful to our clients for trusting us with these remarkable homes, to our collaborators and craftspeople whose talent and dedication brought them to life, and to NCModernist for championing exceptional residential architecture across our state.

Congratulations to all of this year’s outstanding winners and finalists. We’re proud to be part of such an inspiring community of architects helping shape the future of North Carolina design.
