Everybody waits until the gutters are already packed. By then the damage started weeks ago.

Water that can't get out backs up over the lip and under the shingle edge. That's where your sheathing is. Two seasons of that and the fascia is soft, the drip edge is rusting, and what started as leaves is now a roof repair.

Seamless gutters fabricated on site so they fit your house. Guards on top so you're not up a ladder every October/November.

This is what an estimate actually looks like with us. Not a salesperson in your living room with a tablet. The two guys who own the company, standing in your driveway, looking at the same roof you're looking at and telling you what they see.

Same two guys are there when the dumpster shows up, and again at the walkthrough when it's done. No handoff to a project manager you've never met.

That's the line we'd put on a sign if we could. Colleen got three quotes and picked us anyway, then told people why.

She also came back to us. We built her a deck with a roof covering two years ago and she called us again when the roof on the house reached the end of its life. Repeat work is the only review that really counts.

Wait until January and you're patching in the cold, paying somebody to come out on a Saturday, and hoping the fix holds until spring. That's a worse deal every time.

New underlayment, new flashing, full tear off. Most houses around here are a one day job.

Most people's last contractor experience was a guy in their living room with a folder, talking through a number until they signed something.

That's not how this works. We come out, get on the roof, take photos, and measure. Then we leave. The quote hits your inbox within 48 hours and you read it on your own time with nobody sitting across from you.

What's in it: photos of what we actually saw up there, every line item priced out separately, good better best laid side by side so you can see where the money goes, and financing options next to the total if you want them.

Then you call us. Or you don't. Either way the estimate cost you nothing and you know more about your roof than you did last week.

October is the window everybody sleeps on.

Dry stretches, temps in the fifties and sixties, and crews that can work a full day without fighting heat or rain. Shingles still seal on their own. Siding goes up clean. Nobody's rushing to beat a storm.

Come December that's over. Cold makes materials stiff and brittle, daylight runs out by four thirty, and every job takes longer than it should.

If it's on your list for this year, this is the month to get it on the calendar.

Full tear off, then CertainTeed Mainstreet lap on the walls with shake in the gable. Old shutters gone, trim wrapped clean around the door and window.

The thing people miss in a photo like this is how much of the improvement is the trim work. Anybody can hang siding. The corners, the J channel, the way it meets the door casing, that's where you can tell who did it.

Ten minutes on a Saturday, and one of these will probably save you a claim.

Clear the gutters first. Water that can't drain freezes right where it sits, and ice is a lot heavier than most people think.

Walk the perimeter. Loose trim, a bent downspout, shingle pieces in the beds. Anything on the ground came off something.

Look up at the eaves. Sagging or stained soffit means moisture is already in there and has been for a while.

Then check the attic. Daylight where there shouldn't be any, damp insulation, or frost on the nail tips. Any of those, call somebody.

If you'd rather have another set of eyes on it, our fall inspection is free, takes half an hour, and comes with photos. No pitch on your porch.

Save this one before you forget.

Almost every job we get comes from somebody who talked to their neighbor over the fence.

No door knocking. No storm chasers rolling through the block. If we did your roof, siding, or gutters this year and somebody down the street asks who you used, sending them our way is the best thing you can do for us.
