🔧 MEET THE OWNER

My name is Edgar Melchor, and I’m the owner of Comfort Control AC.

I started in the HVAC trade as a young apprentice, and more than 23 years later, I’m proud to own and operate my own company. Throughout my career, I’ve worked as an installer, service technician, supervisor, project manager, and installation manager. Every position helped shape me into the contractor and business owner I am today.

I’m not an owner who sits behind a desk all day—I still put on my tool belt, get my hands dirty, diagnose systems, perform repairs, and complete installations. When you call Comfort Control AC, there’s a good chance I’ll be the person who answers your call and shows up at your door. I’ll explain what I find, give you honest options, and stand behind my work.

I built Comfort Control AC on faith, hard work, honest service, and doing the job right. I’m thankful for how far God has brought me and grateful for every customer who trusts me with their home or business.

We proudly serve Willis, Conroe, The Woodlands, Montgomery, New Waverly, Spring, Tomball, and the surrounding I-45 corridor.

What’s hiding inside your HVAC system? 👀

Your air filter isn’t the only part of your HVAC system that gets dirty.

During inspections, I regularly look beyond the filter and check areas homeowners rarely see — including the blower wheel, evaporator coil and supply/return plenums.

These photos show exactly why.

Heavy dust and debris buildup inside the system can contribute to:

• Reduced airflow
• Poor system performance
• Unpleasant or musty odors
• Dirty blower wheels and coils
• Contaminants being circulated through the duct system
• Increased strain on HVAC equipment

And then there’s the other side of it — some systems we inspect are remarkably clean. Proper filtration, maintenance, keeping the equipment and duct system sealed, and addressing indoor air quality can make a BIG difference.

UV lights can also be a valuable addition when properly selected and installed, particularly around the indoor coil where moisture can create conditions favorable for microbial growth. But UV isn’t a substitute for filtration, cleaning or proper maintenance.

Your HVAC system moves air throughout your home every day. What’s happening inside of it matters just as much as what you can see from the thermostat.

🥵 Upstairs hot while downstairs is freezing? Your zoning system may not be working the way you think it is.

Recently, I’ve been on several service calls involving HVAC zoning problems — and sometimes the problem isn’t the air conditioner itself.

I’ve found:

🔧 Failed zone damper motors
🌡️ Bad temperature sensors
⚠️ Dampers installed or adjusted incorrectly
🔌 Failed zone control boards
💨 Improperly installed or adjusted bypass dampers
❄️ Airflow problems when only one zone is calling

When a zoning system isn’t designed, installed or operating correctly, the result can be much more than an uncomfortable room.

Improper airflow can contribute to excessive temperature differences, condensation on equipment and ductwork in our hot Texas attics, and conditions that can encourage mildew or microbial growth.

Zoning is more than adding thermostats and motorized dampers.

The equipment capacity, ductwork, airflow, static pressure, damper operation and controls all need to work together.

While single-stage equipment can be zoned when properly designed, I generally prefer multi-stage or variable-capacity equipment for zoned applications because the system can better adjust its output as individual zones open and close.

🥵 An upstairs that never seems to cool
💨 Weak or excessive airflow from certain vents
🌡️ Zones that don’t maintain temperature
💧 Condensation around your HVAC equipment

…it may be time to have the entire zoning system evaluated, not just the thermostat.
