Bartlett Tree Experts finished up trimming dead branches and removing dead trees from the garden on Friday. The garden was reopened late that day. Thank you to the Bartlett crew for making it safe for our visitors.

Bartlett Tree Experts will be removing some dead trees and tree limbs on Friday, August 28th. For safety reason, the garden must be closed to the public during this work. The garden will be closed all day.

On our workday in the garden this week, our volunteers noticed this monarch butterfly hanging on to a stem and not moving. It had emerged from its chrysalis recently and was letting its wings dry. We watched it until it was ready to fly which didn't take long.

The bees are loving the Bee Balm in the garden. This is the native Bee Balm or Wild Bergamot (Monarda fistulosa).

Lots of plants and wildlife active in the garden. The Common Milkw**d has especially enjoyed the recent rain. Things are looking great, so visit soon and see what is happening

The garden has lots of things coming on despite the heat. The coming rain and cooler temps will help even more. This shows Yarrow and Spiderwort in the foreground and Penstemon in the Butterfly garden. There are also still a few plants in the plant sale area.

The Garden reopened its plant sale today with many new items including milkw**d and butterfly w**d. The sale runs through May 25th or until all plants are sold. We have a fair amount of plants including perennials, trees and shrubs for sale.

We prefer cash or checks to avoid processing fees. These may be left in the pink box on the right corner of the plant stand. Checks should be made payable to Williamsburg Botanical Garden. There is a QR code to use for credit or debit card payments.

The garden will be closed to the public tomorrow, Friday, May 8th in order for the JCCW Master Gardeners to set up for their Annual Plant Sale that will open at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 9th and closes at noon. If you have more questions:
