On August 4, 2026, we had the pleasure of hosting a cookout for the Water Pollution Control Improvement Project in Beatrice, NE. It was a great opportunity to gather with our crew, the engineer, and the owner and show our appreciation for the hard work being put into this important project.
This talented team is led by Superintendent Casey Sikes, Assistant Superintendent Braden Sikes, Project Manager Tony Lager, and Vice President Chad Nickolaisen. They are supported by Foremen Kelly Jacobsen and Kaden Grammer, along with Field Engineer Cooper Wilkening.
To each of you, thank you for your dedication, leadership, and commitment to BCI. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and we are proud to have you representing our company on this project and many others. Keep up the great work!

Late July, we had the honor of celebrating the retirement of two incredible members of the BCI family, Mike Schoborg and Donnie Ellison!

Both Mike and Donnie have dedicated decades of their lives to BCI, beginning their journeys with the company back in the 1980s. Their hard work, leadership, knowledge, and commitment have made a lasting impact on our company and the people they have worked alongside throughout the years.

We are incredibly grateful for the many years they have given to BCI and for the legacy they leave behind. While we will certainly miss having them around, we are excited for them to begin this next chapter!

Congratulations on your retirement, Mike and Donnie!
Thank you for decades of dedication, leadership, and memories. We wish you both nothing but the very best in retirement!

We held a successful appreciation cookout at the Plattsmouth, Nebraska W2 WBS Pump Station. Although it was a hot day with little wind, we had a great turnout, serving approximately 40 attendees, including representatives from the City of Plattsmouth, Water Treatment Plant staff, Strand Associates, and Building Crafts.

We were also honored to have BCI Owner John Zalla, along with Project Managers John Ivan and David Zalla, join us while they were in town for project visits and training. Their participation made the event even more special.

We would like to thank the City and the Engineer for attending, for your kind words of appreciation, and for the strong relationships that have been built throughout this project. These partnerships have been instrumental to the project's success.

A special thank you goes to Chad Nickolisen, Vice President, Austin Bailey, Project Manager, Joe Sampson, Superintendent, Mark Holmgren, Estimator and the entire BCI crew for their hard work, dedication, and contributions to the project.

And, of course, a big thank you to Robert for firing up the grill and serving some great food for everyone to enjoy!

We appreciate everyone's support and look forward to continuing our successful partnership as the project progresses.

We recently had the pleasure of hosting an appreciation cookout in recognition of the projects we’ve partnered on with the City of Council Bluffs, including the Centrifuge Replacement project and the ongoing 6th Avenue Pump Station Scrubber.

The event was a great success—with an excellent turnout, beautiful weather, and outstanding food! Robert, our grill master, was on duty and, as always, did an amazing job.

We were especially grateful to receive a kind note from the plant’s WPC Superintendent, Don:

"We wanted to say thank you for the cookout today at the Plant for the employees. The food was excellent, and we really appreciate the work by BCI on the Centrifuge and 6th Ave Odor Control projects. Thanks again, and we look forward to working with BCI on future projects."

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves—thank you!

A special thank you to our V.P., Chad Nickolisen; Project Manager, Tony Lager; Assistant Project Manager, Marvin Wingett, Superintendent, Bill Hardy; and all of the field employees who made these projects a success. We truly appreciate your hard work and dedication.

The College World Series is one of the biggest events of the year in Omaha, Nebraska, home to one of our GPRO region offices.
Recently, Victaulic, a pipe supplier of BCI, invited some of our employees to attend a game.
The action wasn't limited to the field!
During the game, a foul ball headed toward Chloe, who leaned out of the way, the ball hit her chair and rolled towards Taylor, who grabbed it! In the end, Atlas became the proud owner of the ball—because who could say no to that face?
It was a fantastic experience for all!
Pictured and in attendance were Chad Nickolisen (VP) and his daughter Chloe; John Dahir (Regional Safety Manager) and his son Atlas; Nolan Vondra (PM) and his wife Taylor; and Victaulic representatives Graham and Dylan.

Building Crafts Inc. is proud to partner with the City of Avoca, Iowa on improvements to their Water Treatment Plant. The project included replacing the deteriorated north and south walls with new block, completed in 14-foot sections. Electrical service upgrades were made throughout the facility, including updates to interior components.

All existing chemical feed systems were removed and replaced with modern equipment, and a new ammonia feed system was added, complete with two manholes south of the building for the injection point. Enhancements were also made to the existing lime slaker controls, along with the addition of a second slaker. Both the existing filter equipment and the newly constructed walls received fresh coatings of paint.

The BCI project team included Regional VP Chad Nickolisen, Project Superintendent Travis Grammer, Project Manager Roger Olson, and many other dedicated crew members whose hard work made this project a success.
