Spinning in the strong Nebraska wind, the Bennett Windmill's 60-foot fan never stood a chance. Built of locally quarried stone in 1874-75, the tower fell in a storm several years later.

But it wasn’t the wind that lopped off the extra “t” in the name Bennett. Both the windmill and the town were named in honor of railroad supervisor John Bennett, but according to local legend a careless sign painter misspelled the town’s name and the "Bennet" spelling stuck.

It’s a record height new build for TWI Construction in Tulsa. Fun facts: combined weight of concrete, steel, and digital message center is approximately 189,000 pounds. The combined weight loss of crew members during this project is estimated at 12 pounds. The column depth into planet earth is equal to a five story building.

TWI Construction is currently hiring. Must be able to climb and work at 50’ over all height although the average work height is at 30’. Must be able to start immediately.
You will be painting steel structures and must be responsible, and able to work on your own. Must have a Valid Drivers license, Clean driving record, and be able to pass a DOT physical. Pay scale based on experience, starting wage is at least $12.00 per hour. Must be able to start ASAP. Please submit resume on facebook or email to [email protected].
