Preventative maintenance becomes especially important during extreme outdoor ambient temperatures because HVAC systems operate under significantly greater stress when temperatures rise.

Why High Ambient Temperatures Matter
As outdoor temperature increases, the condenser has a harder time rejecting heat. This causes condensing pressure and compressor discharge temperatures to rise, putting additional stress on the compressor.

Reduced cooling capacity: A dirty condenser coil or restricted airflow becomes even more problematic in high ambient conditions because the system already has less ability to reject heat.

Increased electrical demand: Motors, compressors, and electrical components operate harder and may draw more current. Weak capacitors, contactors, connections, and motors are more likely to fail when heavily loaded.
