🚨 Scammers are getting more creative... 🤦🏼♀️
Apparently, someone thought it was a good idea to contact us about building a deck on a property... that they don't even own. 😳
The best part? The property is still actively listed in the MLS, so it didn't take long to realize something wasn't adding up.
⚠️ A friendly reminder to my fellow, REALTOR®️, contractors, builders, and trades:
Verify property ownership before providing estimates or scheduling work.
If someone is in a hurry, refuses to meet at the property, or can't prove they own it, that's a huge red flag.
When in doubt, check public records or contact the listing agent if the property is actively listed.
Scammers are becoming more sophisticated, but a few minutes of due diligence can save you thousands of dollars and countless headaches.
Stay alert out there, and if something feels off... trust your instincts. 💙
Have you run into scams like this recently? I'd love to hear your story so we can help protect others.
This is the 2nd scam we've received in the past 2 weeks!
1st one was a scammer trying to purchase the bike we have for sale and it's not even listed on Marketplace!
PSA: You Can't Build a Deck for Someone Who Doesn't Own the House! 😤
I have spoken to the listing and sent her the email thread...
