To prepare your home safely for autumn, 🍁🍁🍁inspect all heating equipment, test smoke alarms, and clear dry debris away from outdoor electrical sources.
Clear debris: Remove dry leaves 🍂 or debris and pine needles away from outdoor outlets, lighting fixtures, and air compressor units to prevent fire hazards! Fall clean up isn’t just for looks!
Use GFCI protection: Plug all seasonal decor or outdoor tools into Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter outlets to protect against shocks from autumn rain. ☔️
Test alarms: Test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and put in fresh batteries as you transition into indoor heating season. A great reminder is to add that as a recurring calendar item on your phone.
Check space heaters: Plug space heaters directly into a wall outlet rather than an extension cord, and keep them away from loose fabrics.
Inspect cords: Look over winter gear like electric blankets and heating pads for frayed wires or worn fabric before use. Do not tuck electric blankets under a mattress.
Do you have any older outdoor outlets or upcoming holiday decorating plans that call for additional or upgraded power sources?
Now is the time to give us a call!
