💡 Why Is This Outlet Upside Down?

Ever notice an electrical outlet installed with the ground opening on top and wonder if it was put in wrong?

Not necessarily! ⚡

In most homes, there isn’t one universally required direction for a standard receptacle. Sometimes electricians intentionally install an outlet in a different orientation as a visual cue, such as to distinguish a switched or special-purpose receptacle. In other settings, ground-up installation may simply be the preferred installation method.

So an “upside-down” outlet doesn’t automatically mean there’s a problem!
