An agricultural well is designed from the demand backward.
Start with what the water has to do.
Is it filling a livestock pond or trough system? Supplying irrigation? Serving multiple buildings? Running continuously during part of the season or in shorter cycles throughout the day?
Those answers affect the well, pump, power, pipe, controls, storage, and distribution plan. A system can produce water and still perform poorly if the pump does not match the well, the delivery line restricts the flow, the power supply cannot support the equipment, or the discharge point creates erosion and wasted water.
The design also needs to leave room for the operation to change. More cattle, another field, a second trough, or a future building can turn today's adequate system into tomorrow's bottleneck.
That is why we do not begin an agricultural project by choosing a pump from a shelf. We begin with the required use, then build the system that can deliver it reliably.
