A new home is an investment. The water system deserves attention, too.

This homeowner wanted to upgrade his pressurized water system and protect his new investment. The project included an 80-inch by 80-inch shed and a change from a two-wire pump to a three-wire pump.

On his existing two-wire setup, the capacitor was down in the well. Accessing it for service meant pulling the pump, adding labor and cost.

The three-wire setup uses an above-ground control box. That puts those components within reach, making that type of service quicker and less labor-intensive.

Keep the ants out of your pressure switch! 🐜

With the past week’s rain, ants may seek shelter in inconvenient places, including your water well’s pressure switch. Ants and debris can interfere with the electrical contacts, preventing the pump from turning on and leaving you without water pressure.

For this customer, we took care of the ants, addressed the corrosion, and repaired the switch wiring to get their water flowing again in a timely manner!

The yard is drying out. The faucet runs clear. Before you fill that coffee pot, one question matters:

Did floodwater reach your well?
⠀
If it did, looks and smell cannot tell you whether the water is safe. Don’t taste it to check.
⠀
Use bottled water or another known safe source for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and making ice while your well is being evaluated.

Once floodwater recedes, have the well and pump inspected. The well and household plumbing need proper disinfection, followed by water testing through a certified drinking-water laboratory.

Wait for satisfactory results and guidance before using the water again. If fuel or chemical contamination is suspected, tell the professional evaluating your well. Disinfection alone won’t address it.

You muted the septic alarm. But whatever set it off may still need attention.

An aerobic septic alarm can signal an air, pump, float, or high-water problem. The sound alone won’t tell you which.

Here’s your next move:

🔹 Reduce water use. Hold off on laundry, the dishwasher, and long showers until you get guidance.
🔹 Use the panel’s silence button if your system allows it. Don’t shut off the system to stop the noise.
🔹 Note which light is on and when the alarm started. Call your septic service provider.

Leave tank lids closed. If wastewater is surfacing in the yard, keep people and pets away and tell the service team.
